Anyone having blackeyed peas for New Years day?
Grampa always told me they brought you good luck, however I think I have heard from other sources that by this time of the year, that was about all that was left from what was put up for the winter ...and you were just lucky to have them.

Is this a southern tradition? or, do some of you Yankees have them also?

I try to eat some every year on New Years day......still waiting on that really good luck!

I'd love to be strolling through Inner Harbor right now..I love it there.  One day my wife and I had nothing to do, so we drove up to Manchester, NH airport and flew to Baltimore for the day and just wandered around Inner Harbor for a few hours and then came home...crab cakes, the aquarium, can't remember what else we ate..there was a baseball game at Camden Yard that night but we figured it would be over too late to catch the last flight home.

GA Guy and Collard greens...I love 'em...my mouth is watering..Chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes and sawmill gravy, fried okra and collard greens with a little bit of vinegar on 'em...That's good eatin' folks

Addict, you guys are famous for your Gulf Shrimp which are unlike any shrimp I have ever tasted so I am jealous! I love them so much I actually have them sent FedEx fresh frozen.

Inner Harbor a major seaport with a group of restaurants, hotels, and other attractions. It could be compared to Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco. If you happen to be at either place, it is definitely worth the visit. I never had a bad meal at either of them. And if you can't get there, go to the Lobster Pot on Nantucket, Doc's Restaurant in NYC, Bayside Betsy's in P-Town, La Testavin in Saint Maarten, Antoine's in New Orleans and the list goes on and on.

So did I make my point that I love, love fish? LOL

I think maybe it is the berries that are poison. but, it is cleaned a couple times "just in case".

Is this "Inner Harbour" a geographic location, or a business? Sounds like a pretty good place to check out.

Poke salad grows wild here during the spring. When you cook it, it is called "poke salit" thats the way my grand parents explained it to me anyway.
Poke is posion unless it is cooked 2-3 times and the water poured off. It is  similiar to spinach. Good by itself as a green, or I like it mixed with scrambled eggs!

Inner Harbour is a place in Baltimore. I guess some would call it the Crab Capital of the states. It is where the crab comes from on the East coast, and good stuff btw.
