Cymbalta

As many of you that know me know I have been taking 3 vics per day for a long time for chronic pain. Up until this last year they have done a good job, with helping and I have no taken more than I was prescribed. I have also tried and done a whole list of other things to find an option to vics and pain. Anyway, I saw my Dr yesterday and he prescribed Cymbalta to go along with the vics that I am taking. He does not want to increase my vic use or the strength above the 5/500's that I get now.

Has anyone else taken Cymbalta? I am hopeful that it will help me, but as we are friends here and I respect the input from all of you please let me know of good or bad things you have found with this med.

Cymbalta will help with nerve pain in higher dose's, im on 180mg per day for depression and pain, it works great with dep. and not real well for pain. But sometimes we do get pain from deperrsion. It can have an effect on sex somewhat. Give the cymbalta a try, keep your Dr informed as to any side effects you might have.

Hey VicUser,   Yes, I have taken Cymbalta for depression and pain. They do help with the pain ....a little, but they work great for depression. They are addictive and must be tapered off of and they are also very expensive, but you probably have insurance, so hopefully that won't be an issue for you. I don't know what mgs you are prescribed, but it's something you should build up to, because they can make you quite nauseous at first, especially if starting out at to high a dose. The first time my doc. started me at 10 mgs for a week then 20mgs, then to 30mgs and I was fine.  Second time jumped right on at 30 mgs and they made me sick. They may also make you feel kinda funky at first to...just weird.  Hope that helps.
Love, Magi
