Day 9 with Chantix

Well the cigarettes taste terreible. I've been tapering down as the med. works up in my system.
I can't even smoke two ciggs a day. So bieng the defiant, skeptical lady i am I've still been smoking
them, but their awful. I have this hand to mouth thing going on. This is the part where ppl. start gaining weight. Today I do my end of the deal. Since their so icky tasting, its time not to pick one up.
So I bought some lemon drops. sesame treats, and grapes for that hand to mouth thing. I need little things to eat. But I have to be smart about it. But the medicine is amazing. I'm ready to clean the ashtray and put it on the shelf. Or better yet in the garbage! I feel good about this.

I tried to e.mail this page to my mom so she could talk to you.  I'm no sure that it worked.  I have to go but I will check with her later to see if she got it.

No, by all means, call your mom and get some ideas. How sweet you are to offer me that. It is a struggle quitting smoking,  But I never hardly used to smoke till I started f---ing around with hese pills. Then after years of that, I picked up the habit along the way. Any ideas is greatly appreciated.It doesn't have to be food to mouth. the tooth pick idea is a good one, even thi women look so cheap with a toothpick hanging form thier mouth. So truckstopish, or trailory ish. hehehe. Thanyou for offering sweetie.     Cathy

You wrote a little blip to me a while back and I see that your are friends with tzt.  Anyone who is friends with her is a friend in my book.  

I just saw this post and wanted to tell you that my parents (my mom has been longer that my dad) are both on Chantix.  I don't know how long you have been on it but she says it's a absolute miracle drug to help with the cravings.  She has quit cold turkey before and said this is just NOTHING compared to that.  It has helped both of them tremendously.

I just wanted to offer that I could call and ask her if she has any suggestions for you to make it a little easier.  I know that she used to keep a toothpick in her mouth all the time (you know?  for that hand/mouth thing you were mentioning).  I'm sure she would have some other helpful ideas if you would like me to ask her.  She is probably in her fourth month now and she is a total non-smoker now!!  YEA!!!  I'm so proud of her.  I know how hard it must be to quit.  In nursing school we learned that it can be more addicting than heroine.  I guess tzt can attest to what is harder huh?.......lol.  She actually would truly, honestly know.  

Anyway......I just saw your post and thought I might offer me calling my mom for you.  Let me know if that would be something helpful.

Im still doing ok.   I took my two pills of ultram this morning and 1.5 this afternoon.  I may just take 1.5 tonight to keep my taper going.  I cant wait till Im off of all of it.  I know it will help with smoking cuz the smokes dont taste as good to me w/o opiates.

Wow, sounds great!  You are a wise woman to get stuff to replace the hand mouth thing.   Its so good to hear you are making even more good changes.  You will be around for a long time to enjoy your kids and grandkids and enjoy better health.
