Free Massage to Good Home ;)

Having just gone through the bulk of detox myself, I understand how hard it can be. During mine, I had completely forgotten that I have a gift certificate for a 1-hour Swedish massage, aromatherapy, hot towel foot treatment, and 15-minute treatment on a HydroLuxe massage bed.

I would like to offer this gift certificate to someone who will use it. Free. No strings. No personal information needed. My only requirements are that you live in the Houston area (this is where the spa is), are currently in the process of detoxing from substance abuse, and will use the gift certificate for yourself (a.k.a. don't sell it).

I have no affiliation with the spa. This was a gift to me, as well. My only interest is that it provide some relief and a bit of a bright spot in someone's day.

I only have one gift certificate, so this is first come, first serve. Please message me here on MedHelp. From there, the only thing I'll need is an email address. I will only use your email address for this purpose but, understanding that the internet is not the most trustworthy of places, I welcome you to set up a one-off email account in order to protect your privacy.

I will come back to this thread to answer any questions and to inform you once the gift certificate has been claimed.

Someone take this thing off my hands and go treat yourself! :)

Full disclaimer: I've been getting weekly massage for a long time. Yes, it does release toxins locked in the muscles, esp if you've never got one. That's why you drink a ton of water that day, esp after. I had one at day 8 and it was greatly beneficial to me personally. A quick search turned up only positive mentions of the benefits during detox, including as J said, using it specifically as therapy. My opinion is that it will help tremendously after day 5 (before which IMO it's wasted). Check for yourself, ask an MD ideally, but again, I don't see it posing a danger. Sauna and whirlpool are also great ideas (and are also toxin-releasing). With all of the above: Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate, then drink a bunch of water :)

I wasn't thinking during the first four or five days, but after the initial detox is done and the person's left with the fatigue, aches and pains. I know I didn't want anyone near me the first few days.

Please do let me know if it's not healthy. I'd hate to lead someone down the wrong path. I did do some research and, from what I read, massage helps to release toxins and boost endorphins. Many rehabs and detox facilities use it as part of treatment. But, you know the internet. Two different sites or searches can say two entirely different things. Please keep me posted with what you learn!

It's really sweet of you to offer this. I just had a thought though...it seems to me I've heard people should NOT get a massage during detox. It has to do with the release of toxins...I need to check. But, a sauna is wonderful!

Just a thought, but if no one here is able to use it, then you might consider donating it to a Women's shelter or some such organization! They might use it in a raffle or something like that to raise money! You are such a sweetheart! You have a very kind heart! Take care!

Oh! I forgot to mention. The gift certificate is only good until September 12, 2012. So you need to be able to use it by then.

Sonrissa: I wish you could use it! I hope that someone here is able to. :)
