oh, I enjoy watching the kids (they're all adults) open their stuff and my wife open hers and she always gets me some nice stuff....the real thrill is Bear (my golden retriever for any newcomers)...we always get him a few new toys and put them in a box and wrap it...he goes nuts ripping the paper off with is claws and fishing out the toys tail wagging and hitting everybody in the face and knocking over coffee..
But....I dread the general idea of Christmas every year...it's a yearly reminder of when my parents were alive and my brothers and I were together and getting a new bicycle and stuff and going out to see what my friends got..none of my friends today give a flying you know what that I get a new GPS (my old one broke) or some collection of movies.
Jim
You guys hang in there I promise things get better.. I think what has gone wrong with CHRISTmas is that its about how broke we can get...Not about the love and what it really means...As for me I tell em to kiss it and leave I have no time for the BS during this time of year...
Scaredmom hope all has been well go Jr 2010......
I think it was alienshadow who told me lots of people get depressed at this time of the year because there is little to no sun. He told be to turn all the lights on and dance around the living room and I would start to feel better. as you all know I hate to admit a man was right but it did help lift my sprits.
i think alot of the way i am is because we have no children at home. so christmas morning it is quiet and there is no reason to wake up at 5am to put together toys.
I havent been in the spirit for quite some years, this is the second one we didnt even put up a tree. It is just hubby and myself so why bother. We are going to my son's tomorrow for gift exchange and then hubby's mother's on Friday. Our boys and their families will be there too. bah humbug
I didnt even do christmas shopping this year, hubby and I went to CVS bought christmas cards and a couple of gift cards and everyone else just gets a card with money in it. We did our entire shopping in 20 minutes,. can't beat that. lmfao
I do want to wish my extended family a happy holidays and love yall!
I don't either.........but is it an option? So for me, I will pull up my boot straps, and march forward with a smile on my face and a hole in my heart........and pray to God that hole becomes smaller with time. With families and friends, as crazy as they may be, their love is around, try as they might (or might not!) I always have to step back regroup and know our memories are forever......good. silly or sad, they are my life, And yes I am truly blessed.
nah, it will give me a chance to get out of the house tomorrow night...didn't quite make it tonight and hope that BIL doesn't want to tag along...i just need to get a couple things for my wife. Not sure what....she doesn't want jewelry or any of that kind of stuff for the house...I thought of getting her a GPS but she doesn't really do that much driving as she can only see out of one eye and not very well at that...I bought her a Mitsubishi Eclipse nearly 3 years ago and she doesn't even have 15K miles on it. Movies? nah...stuff for the house? Maybe..
Plus I want to look around at a new receiver for our home theatre rig.:-)
Jim
No big fan here either. My sister could take the fun out of a funpark!
Terry
I say stay home and have the flu.
Bear, it sounds like you might need to get the flu also.lol Then you won't have to go shopping, you can just get out your check book or do some online shopping.
I've never cared for Christmases where Christmas day the kids open their presents and then it's hop in the car and drive all over the place to visit everybody and by the time you get back the kids are too tired to play with their stuff. Even my son in GA this year told his mom and inlaws...they are staying home Christmas Day this year...he and his wife are in the midst of reconciling and he wants to be with his family...
we have my wife's brother staying with us (long story) and he's a very controlling obsessive compulsive type with a phd in Political Science who is creating a lot tension around here and he and my wife are going to rip his throat out any minute...
And I've still got a lot of shopping to do.
Jim
I agree with alienshadow.. when hubby and I were first married we had to travel to everybody's house Christmas day and eve.. this was very trying to say the least so I decided I was going to start my own traditions.. sense then I have not left home on these days but stay in pj's and enjoy the moment.. it is funny the expectations we put on ourselves.. swine flu is going around :)) lesa
Well I feeel you should follow your heart.....
