insight needed

I have been taking prescription pain killers for some time now.  About a year ago I decided to quit for good, but to ease myself off with the use of methadone.  I sorely underestimated the power of this alternate drug.  I did not go through the proper channels to get this drug or info. on it.  Now I am trying to leave it in my past but find it quite difficult to do, more so even than the 8-10 lortab 10's a day.  I am on my fifth day without it.  However, I learned of subuxone just before I started my detox.  I was able to get 5 - 8mg tablets.  I know how to take them as far as dissolving under tongue.  I started with half of a tablet on the start of the 3rd day (4mgs). It works quite good for easing the withdrawal symptoms.  My concern is that I have not done enough research on this med and am going to be dependent on it.  I had weened myself down to 10 - 20 mgs of methadone a day before starting detox and am also worried that I am taking too large a dose of the subuxone.  Can anyone help with how much I should take for how long.  I really need a strong, proper regime to help save my life from this addiction.  Please Help!

Thanks for the encouragement.  I have done a bit of research as to what sub is... I am really trying to find the proper way to take it with what I have been doing on the methadone.  I quit one time a few years back cold turkey from the hydros (8-10 a day) and that sucked phisically for about a week.  Then 46 days later I thought I could handle taking a hydro again with some party friends and now I am here, and those friends are gone.  I have cleaned house from my bad influences now the only one left is my own mind.  If I could make this physical challenge less hell this time with subuxone then I know I will never use this stuff again... what a nightmarish way to try and live.  I hope anyone with any type of suggestions on how to do this will reply, I dont have much time before the sub is gone and if I do it wrong my chances of recovery hit an abyssal pitfall.
                                              Thanks.

Yes suboxone does seem to be a miracle drug.  I was in the same boat as you, 8 to 10 Lortab 10's a day for about a year now.  Small world.  I tried suboxone a few times in the past 2 months but never had the want to take it correctly.  About a month ago I got 8 more suboxone and starting at half or a third a day and droping ever 4 days until I was at an eight of one a day.  I'm on day 6 with none now and contrary to what I thought it was no picnic.  I did miss a day and a half of work over it and the witdrawal symptoms seem to come a go now.  Just recently i did some researching on these forums listening to peoples personal experience and I hear lots of bad things about suboxone.  I have seen over and over again that if you are on suboxone for more than 5 or 7 days, the withdrawal is just as bad if not worse than the lortab.  I see folks talking about a quick detox using suboxone over a 5 day period, dropping off one miligram a day throughout.  As I said I did not personally try this, but i hear a lot about it.  I do know that doing what I did with the suboxone made for a much more managable withdrawal than quitting cold turkey from 8 to 10 a day or more.  Symptoms a lot less severe, but I dont know how long the withdrawal lasts from suboxone.  I hope not longer than from LT's but I guess I will soon find out.  Good luck, use the suboxone wisely.  DO some research, I wish I had done more!!!
