One of those make ya get down on the ground and kiss it kinda things....

Well tonight, I just had to get out of my house.  I talked my poor, tired husband, and one of my daughters into going out to dinner.  Normally when my husband goes anywhere with me, we go in HIS vehicle and HE drives.  I can think of maybe two exceptions in years, lol  Anyway, I love to drive, and I love my music.  My car has a kick @$$ stereo in it and it sounds awesome.  I have back pain and find I feel some relief when I'm driving MY car, lol  Tonight I insisted on driving, in my car, so I could hear my music.  My husband reluctantly agreed...probably 'cause he knew I'd b*tch the whole way otherwise ;-)  Right away, right out of the driveway, the brakes felt weird...I had to push my foot down almost all the way to get the car to respond.  I was a little freaked to say the least.  Someone moved my seat back though, and I was wearing new shoes, so I thought maybe that was why it felt so weird.  Also, I hadn't driven in about two weeks.  To make this story move along....after complaining about the brakes the whole way there and the whole way back, we were about a mile from my house when I tilted my head and was able to see that the brake light had been on.  "Well that's not good", I said.  We got into the driveway and the ol' man checked the brake fluid.  No shite but there was NONE in the tank, NONE.

Whew, danke, whomever is in charge!

Thanks guys.  Yep, my husband told me that last night.  I asked all kinds of questions about it, like was it possible for it to evaporate or anything and he said no.  He said it's a sealed system and it should be there, unless there's a leak.  He looked for a leak last night briefly, out in the dark, with a flashlight, but didn't see one.  He said he'd have his mechanic take a look at it, so he'll make an appt. with him and he'll bring it down...Now I have to sweat him driving it an hour away one of these days!  Ugh!
Well, THIS will teach one about procrastination!  Yesterday, I was gonna get out and get my Cymbalta filled.  I don't have any for this morning's dose.  It was getting later and later though, and I still wasn't out of the house yet, so I told my eldest we'd go this afternoon today and get it filled and it would be give me another excuse to get out of the house.
Now IF I go, I don't want her in the car.  We added a can of brake fluid last night and he told me to check the tank if I had to go anywhere, and then to pump the brakes.  IF I go anywhere today, I will again check the tank before I get in that car.  I don't wanna die for Cymbalta, lol    Procrastinators out there, look at the mess I got myself into!  I can always call the hubby and have him bring it home with him later, but sometimes he works SUPER late, like lately, and a) he won't have it here until at least 7 p.m., b)  He does SO much for me already, and he is so stressed out from stuff I don't wanna lay more on him.  Well....my kid apparently over-plucked one of her eyebrows and has just sat down and is begging me to fix the other one so it's even....lol......excuse me for a little while guys, lol

Hey I agree, you should not have been out. The brake fluid will go down as the brake pads wear and in Fords there is a pick up to show when it goes below a certain point. If you were out you probably popped a line some where. Please be very careful, I know this could be a silly question but do you know how to add fluid and have a can of it? If it goes down slow it could be a pin hole but pump them a few times at home before you leave to make sure.

Magi is right... brake fluid doesnt just "get low" and need topping off. Its not like a gas tank lol... You might have a bad master cylinder or a broken brake line, or soemthing wrong in the brakes themselves that made the fluid leak out.  Typically, brake fluid is supposed to STAY in the system continuously, so there is a leak somewhere. Take it to like Midas or something if you dont have a regular mechanic- i think they do free brake inspections. Make sure you do something with it Jacqui or you could find yourself without any brakes at all soon!

I'm no mechanic, but isn't unusual to be totally empty on brake fluid? Please have it checked for a leak, filling it may not keep you safe if there is a leak.

Hey I know it man!  I'll be poppin' the hood later and checkin' to make sure the tank still has brake fluid in it before I pull outta my driveway.  Either that or I'm gonna have to plan on Fred Flintstone stoppin' that b*tch and I am not even remotely sure what saw to use for my floorboards to do that!

Maybe my brake (or the lack thereof) fun tonight will remind others to check their fluid.  I swear I complained about how the car was braking the entire way there and back and my husband said, "I don't know, I'M not over there!" everytime I asked him what the he!! was wrong with my car, lol.
The way I'm positioned in the car, the steering wheel blocks my line of sight of that brake light or I might have seen it sooner.  I have a trip to make in my car in the afteroon today now too, so I'm glad I saw that light tonight!
I told him he was kinda stupid to get in the car with me after puttin' a pinhole in my brake lines, lol  Silly man  ;-)
