Pills Anonymous and Alcoholics Anonymous

First it seems many people have not heard of Pills Anonymous?  I wonder why.  I hadn't until my X wife ended up in rehab for pills. I had been sober in AA and CA for near 30 years. A couple years ago I started taking Percocet with a prescription.  After a year or so I was taking much more than prescribed, I found a friend who had access to street ones.  As I supported my X through detox and rehab I found I was not sober and addicted to Oxy's myself. By the grace of God Pills Anonymous brought a meeting to her rehab and she went one night.  When she shared their existence to me I felt I must join.  On Sunday I will have 6 months totally clean again thanks to PA, God and a wonderful sponsor. I hear so many people are in AA taking & abusing pain  meds and thinking they are sober.  I am wondering why these people have not heard of PA and tried a meeting. These people are all about recovery and welcoming to the new people.  I am blessed to be a member and wish more people could find us. www://pillsanonymous.org

I began NA in 1987. I don't have to relate to the drug. I have to relate to the message. But whatever works. It's all good.

I understand it is all about  recovery. PA mostly attracts people who did not do street drugs and don't know that world, some do however.  A lot are AA folks who had surgery and took pain meds and found they really liked the feel. Since it was prescribed, why not. Then the addiction monster is a live again. AA, NA, PA, OA ANYA are doorways to recovery.  Where ever a person is comfortable they will stay. I believe PA attracts people like me who had some AA time, took too many pills, wanted to go somewhere that relates and talks about pills.

Congratulations on 6 months. Tha tis awesome. A is not available in many places but NA is everywhere. I went to an NA meeting in St. Martten. NA and A are the same program. It is a choice or it is what is available in the area. It is all about surrender, getting humble and working the steps. It doesn't 9matter which fellowship someone chooses.
