Speech therapy?

I went to my speech therapy this morning. She had me saying ahhhhhh, ooooh, eeeeh and reading from what looked like a grade second reader. The she made a mistake. She said, "Tell me a little about yourself." Now, being a complete windbag I went into a dissertation that rocked her back on her heels. She kept asking me to take a deep breath as i talked. When i finally finished she said,"I really don't know why you are here, you haven't taken a breath for at least fifteen minutes." What she didn't realize when she asked me to tell her a little about myself was that once they get me started I am hard to stop. As my wife would often tell people," Where my husband is concerned you don't need a wind farm to energize a city. Just plant him out there, ask him a question and hold on to your hats." I often wonder if she is serious about that. Any way the therapist cancelled all my future appointments and more or less told me to,"Get lost." She said that I was the last person on earth who needed speech therapy in order to talk. This by the way, had to do with my doctor who thought that seeing as I have asthma I should learn how to breathe so I could talk. Unfortunately for the speech therapist, she was caught unawares and might possibly need some kind of therapy herself after having a couple of stints with me.

I would write out a really long response to this that goes on and on and on cause I have the same problem but for me it's when I start typing... lol

I responded to one post earlier today and before I knew it the response was looking like a book, so I cut out a lot of it and posted it anyway and it still took up the whole screen. lol

I used to write for my job... continuously... all day. So I don't even realize it when I've typed more in a minute than most people type on 10 min. *sigh*

Maybe we should start our own support group and have WA meetings (or Windbag Anonymous meetings)? Probably a bad idea though - they'd never end and not everyone would get a chance to speak. =/

I understand your concern but you have made an error here in regards to me. I have been on both addiction forums for over a year. As for MedHelp they know of me and know that I am not here by accident. I have chatted about many things here and am not a ,"Newby," for want of a better word. I thought the situation with my therapist, speech wise, was a bit of a hoot so I posted it.
Although I have not posted on some of the other forums in regards to any problems I have, I have looked in on them for information, but the substance abuse forum was the predominant one where I first became aquainted with MedHelp due to a bout with oxcontin and it and here and there where I feel most comfortable due to the warm and friendy reception,  I received from the members in January of  07.
I have been helped by many on the parent forum and hopefully have managed to help others as well. Perhaps this will put the matter to rest.

I just noticed your post and didn't want you to go ignored..but you're in the wrong forum. There's probably a place for you to talk about this with other who'd relate more, so give a look out there through the list.

I wanted to let you know, and the speech therapist should also know this....that there are many reasons other than talking, to see one.  Had you been having swallowing problems for example?  A cough, pneumonia?  Your doc may have sent you for one of those reasons, to see if you had a swallowing problem and somehow the purpose for the visit didn't get to you, or the the therapist.

In any event, I wish you luck.  I let MedHelp know that this was in the wrong category here, so maybe they'll contact you and suggest a place to chat.
