Strength Through Prayer

I have eluded to this previously, except to answer Friend999 prayer request.  I am a Christian and a Believer.  No not one of the Bible thumping, fire and brimstone, Bible quoting fundamentalists.  I exercise quiet devotion and believe that Jesus The Christ is all of our Lord and Savior.

I'm not pushing my beliefs on any one here but would like to remind you all that our Lord listens and answers our prayers.  He is there when we need him even if we haven't called on him regularly or at all in the past.  God holds no grudges and judges no one until the proper time.  He created us and understands our flaws.  Free Will is one of the blessings (and sometimes a curse) that he has given us.

Remember Nitche':  "that which does not destroy me only serves to make me stronger".  That is Gods position.  He will allow you to put yourself through the ringer in order to come out stronger with His end desire that you will come to Him.

If you dont' believe, try to.  If you don't pray, it can't hurt.  I find it very comforting to talk with him.  During the worst part of my withdrawals, I calmed myself and got to sleep by saying the Lord's Prayer over and over.  He listens.  He understands your struggles and he will help you.  All you need to do is ask.

thanks for your initial post....loved it!....i, too, am a very strong christian, exercise quiet devotion (but that doesn't mean i don't talk to people about Jesus at times either!), and believe that He is our Lord and Savior....

prayer is THE most important thing any of us on here can do for the other....there is nothing  more important....how else can all of us on here, miles and miles and miles apart, help each other?  words on the forum are nice (and very much needed, not to put down the forum one bit), but prayer.....well, nothing on this earth beats prayer....

knock, and he will answer....

He's WAITING for us to knock....that's all he wants us to do!  why is there so much pain and suffering on this earth?  he's only waiting for us to come to him....due to our free will, yes, we often do get ourselves into HUGE messes and cause much pain and suffering for ourselves and others....but if we go to him....wow....what amazing grace he has in store for us.....

if he brings you to it, he will bring you through it.....

i'm a christian and i'm not afraid to talk about it on the forum....glad to see you weren't either :-)

may god bless each and every one of you on here.....love you all!!!

No bomb...but I can't agree as I don't agree with pre-destination.

I believe that God allows us to make choices.  He puts a fork in the road an we decide which one to take.  However, he does know the ultimate result of either (both) choices and shapes our lives accordingly depending on our decision.

Stay strong.  As compared to the length of our lives and or eternal life in heaven, what we are going through or have gone through are only a small fraction of that.  With that said, we can all say that are trials and tribulations with our problems are "almost over" no matter which way you look at it.

"That which does not destroy me only serves to make me stronger".
"This two shall pass"
Two really nice quotes, I must say.

Here's a ff'ism
"Pull your head out of your *** and clean yourself up...I ain't about you, its about your family... Quit being a baby...Suck it up and get better..."

My motivational for the day...

Woo Hoo!

I am a believer, but I am not sure I agree with Free Will.  According to many theologists, God can see the past, present and future of all he created, thus, in simple terms, we are like a Movie he made and has seen before.  It this is true and our destiny is laid out for us, in essence we Don't have "Free Will" and will come to an end-read that he intended for us.

Ok lower the bombs!! LOL

I completely agree and that is what I am trying to do right this moment. Turn to Christ and know that I can do all things through Him who gives me strength. Thanks for the post! May The Lord bless you!

I agree.  I would not have gotten this far without alot of prayer.  Prayer from me and prayers from family and friends.  I have posted it before, but the Rick Warren book, "God's Answers to Life's Difficult Questions" helped me so much.  This little book can be read in a few hours, but the message lasts a lifetime.  After reading I didn't feel so bad about myself and I realized that God does forgive us if we ask Him to.

Thanks for the post it was great, FlyFisher
