Suboxone and Depression?

Has anyone been prescibed Suboxone for withdrawls from pain meds and had it totally help thier depressin?.  I cant beleive how it has helped my 10 year battle with deprssion!.  It has been a life saver for me.  I hope to able to take it a some dose for the rest of my life.  I had tried so many drugs for depression and none of them helped.  I would love to hear what you-all have to add. Thanks

Just remember it's equally addictive. So be very careful with it.

Yeah buprenorphine has been shown to counter depression/anxiety/mood swings - as it should by its very effect on the brain. But that's the problem with most opiates, and why so many people fall into the trap of becoming addicted to them originally (self-medicating for depression). Buprenorphine specifically though, tends to provide more of a stabilization of mood as opposed to most other opiates that produce strong feelings of elation and euphoria (getting high).

Here's an old study (1995'ish) on the subject if interested. There are newer studies out there of course but they aren't easy to find:

I also have the same experience but am scared to be on this too long since I feel like I would be back to counting pills and making my plans around my sub. I am on a quick taper plan and I am not sure what I will do about the depression and anxiety again after all this. Today is day 14 for me wooo hoo! and I am now down to 1mg every 24 hours..
