I used to live in Phoenix....I loved being outside playing volleyball or tennis in shorts and T shirt this time of year...now for some reason I live in New Hampshire (for the last 26+ years) where the winters are just too darn long and summer to darn short. Right around labor day it starts to cool off and doesn't really start getting warm steadily until late May/early June...show usually starts late November and can still be falling in early April

its so funny to read these...so many of you from warm climates and loving it. Now dont get me wrong, I dont enjoy frezing my butt off when its subzero and the wind is howling (well i DO like high winds, but not when its gonna maek the windchill -20 below zero lol). I love love snow and I get very bummed when we dont get a white christmas!! Its still up in the air right now as to if we'll have a white xmas. We only have about 1.5 inches of snow on the gruond right now...and a storm coming for XMas eve- but they said it might be RAIN or a mixture instead of snow, so it could possibly melt what lil snow we have! I will NOT be a happy camper if that happens! Anyhow, I never would or could live in a hot climate! I gotta have my full 4 seasons, and lots of snow every winter! It just seems WEIRD to me- to be out on a hot beach in December..its not natural, LOL
Oh...PLEASE send my grands some of that snow....for Christmas
Sara we buy Fake snow and spray it on our windows !! Geez were not neanderthals lol and ice cycle lights !! it sets the green off wonderfully !! as far as the windows open at 60 brrrrrrr :) But there is no doubt gary will make me drive to the snow just so I can get out and fall down !! Snow Bah humbug !!
Hey Gizzy - it is snowing like mad here right now in VA. We are supposed to get up to 2 feet by the time this storm is over tomorrow. Kind of exciting since we don't typically get snow like this - and I am originally from Arizona. Time to get the ski's out. Stay warm up there.
I'll remember this next July when I have a cool dry breeze blowing in my window every morning.
It seems so funny to me to think about all of you in 60 plus weather to be having Christmas and putting up lights and a tree!!! I couldnt imagine opening presents with the windows open!!!!!!!!
As you know I live in the land of hockey and ice cicles. I feel your pain. My heat bill tripled from last month. Not kidding! The wind is killer and the it's bone chilling cold out there! Brrrrr! I'm a lifer in the cold weather and I still never get used to it.
LOLOL...this humidity at this time of the year is NOT the norm. have spent many a christmas in colorado and i agree the lights are beautiful shinning in the snow...but i'll take flip flops or 27 layers of clothing, any day of the week.
The answer to how we live here is right there in lizzie lou's post. I've never needed an air conditioner and I will take the cold over ever having 98% humidity.nd the Christmas lights are so pretty shining on the snow.
Our winter just finished the temps ranged from 27 to 65 I don't know how you live in such cold conditions
85 to 90 here,Everyones at the beach and getting ready for our bushfire season,In Feb over 100 people died in bushfires. But gizzy can you send some snow down under I'm 47 and I've never seen snow.
68 here today...HUMIDITY IS AT 98%...gggrrrrrrr. i had to turn my air conditioner on because it is so muggy. yep...still in either shorts or jeans and flip flops.
sorry northerners :)
I have always loved xmas lights. I took videos of them in our town here the past few nights just driving around. They are on every other house, it's so cool. Some go overboard though putting lights on every single thing possible and one house had christmas music playing and their house lit up the sky haha. Christmas is my favourite holiday by far:)
xmas lights in my town are far and few between. Cant hardly find them now as so many people are decorating this year. Looks rather festive!! Still havent found a Clark Griswold house yet but i am still looking for one!!!!!!!!
I too like the cold. Hot flashes here as well. My poor husband freezes I have the heat set at 65 and the window open in the bedroom at night.
Like snow the deeper the better. I am from up state PA. I just wish people here could drive in it!

Oh yes, yes. They have such beautiful new lights this year. They are selling out quickly though. I saw shelves stripped of all the led lights - sold clean out. I think I will go to town and see if I can find someplace that still has a good selection. My favorites are the blue icicle lights outside and the multi-colored, multi-function ones indoors.
Get the LED ones as they are brighter!!
Yeah and they seem to be getting longer and harder. And I like the cool climate at altitude. I had the window open next to my bed until it got below 20 - long after I was making fires for my wife. (You know the Paul Simon song? Although it never led to "Goodbye, goodbye, goodbye," for us.) But the short days always get to me. I think I'm going to go buy even more Christmas lights. We'll buy electricity instead of presents this year.
I feel your pain!! Winters are long and hard arent they?
Lesa.......rub it in girl!!
What do you mean even in NM? We get many feet of snow here every year, or at least we used to before the Global Warming Hoax perpetrated by those nasty scientists changed our weather. I can see two ski areas from here and if I go up to the top of my property I can see a couple more. How about Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD). Everything here is covered in ice and it gets dark before I can accomplish anything during the day. I put up Christmas lights to try to mitigate the darkness but I'm getting so depressed by winter and it's just starting. I'm glad global warming isn't real. What with the lights and the electric heaters running until I light a fire and even the extension cord I ran to the doghouse last week to plug in an electric blanket for the dogs when it got below zero, we are using a power plant load of electricity.
It's 25 degrees but feels like 13. Not much snow here in Northern Indiana where my daughter lives, but in Michigan where I live just 4 miles from Lake Michigan there's snow. Snow is beautiful, but wind and gloomy skys really make winter hard to bear. And it lasts sooooo long!
I don't think I'll get to go to FL this winter for a break either. Bummer.
here in Northern Cali we are having rain and it is about 60 For those that live in the snow I think you all are a lil Carazy !!
I love the rain !!
Rain coming down with your silver wings I will ride you by and by singing with the wind :))
No i am not hanging clothes. Snow is too deep to get to it or i would be!!!
