HYLANDS RESTFUL LEGS can be found at Duane Reade, CVS and Rite Aide. Believe me, I have suffered form restless legs for YEARS and it was SO BAD when I was pregnant that I was up for days upon days and requip is a BIG No No during pregnancy. It helped me TREMENDOUSLY!!!
GO GET IT NOW... and eat lots and LOTS of bananas!!
Pete - I am in day 3 and I am crying so hard right now for you and me and all of us - I don't know if it's still the w/d's but I think that if there is one good thing about addiction and trying to recover, it's that it gives you a huge heart full of empathy for everyone else. And it does mean so much to read that there are good people out there who stumbled into addiction of these poisons and it doesn't matter if it was an RX because of an injury or street drug use for other reasons - they create a nightmare. You can do this - We can do this! I am thinking all day today about how nice it will be to live normally again. Just think - one day soon you'll be on day 50 or something and you can tell someone else how you did it and you will be a much needed life preserver for another one of us......
ther IS an over the counter med for restles legs. a lot of people in here use it to help. it is called Hyland's restless legs. also you will need some immodium, melatonin, multivitimins with minerals and amino acids. stress vitimins, gatoraid, soft foods. if you don't drink milk, maybe try some soy or rice milk to coat your stomach. do you have anyone who can be with you? it would be good to enlist a family member or friend to hold your pills and make sure you only get what you should. your brain and body will tell you that you have to have it and you will die without it. you need someone strong to help you. good luck, and i will be praying for you. you can and you need to do this.
Lucy
hey buddy, the are are classic symptoms, and you just have to know that. NO you will not go thru this forever!!! (hopefully you saw my post last night.)
3-4 days tops and the worst will be over. didn't you ever lose alot of sleep from your oxy habit? well then, you should be able to get thru this too.
really - 3, 4 TOPS is the worst. the next couple weeks as mentioned above isn't FUN but nothing like those first couple days. then you just get kinda weepy, lazy, and not alot of sleep. but you're this far in it dude, KEEP GOING or you'll just have to do it alllll over again, and you'll be adding the day or so you just went thru.
and consider yourself lucky you have the lorazapam - some did it without, and i can't even imagine that... (i had some too.) i woulda lept off my balcony.
and DO NOT GO BACK TO DRINKING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
dude - just another day or 2 - that's it for the worst. stay strong.
-mj

Hi Guys,
Hope, I also used a heating pad and that, along with a little Ativan, helped soooo much!! I got an extra long heating pad at Target, and it has dry and moist heat. The moist heat is the BEST.
Pete...try that! What I did was put it on top on one leg, then put my other leg on top of the heating pad to keep it down and really close to the skin. So it was kinda between my legs, with me using the top leg to push it down...know what I mean? DO NOT underestimate the power of heat, especially tubs and heating pads. I don't think I turned mine off for the first 3 days of w/d!! I have been clean since December from going cold turkey, and you won't regret it!!! Truly, more and more now my days are filled with things to do, I barely think about pills anymore. Don't get me wrong...I still have the occassional cravings, and I'm not safe from relapse...none of us are! But as your clean time extends, you'll find yourself thinking about other things, doing other things, and thinking less and less about pills! I'm here off and on, but will try to keep checking on you over the weekend. Let me know if I can help you in any way! You are doing it, and by Monday, just a few days away, you'll feel better and better!!
This was the worst part for me as well, Getting NO sleep! I went 14 nights, and it sucked! I know how you are feeling. My body was so tired, but when i laid down i couldn't lay still.
Have you tried "Melatonin" it is an over the counter sleeping pill...I didn't have this when i was going through w/d, but was told about it at a later time. It truely does help. You can get it at any pharmacy. Very cheap too...I know alot of others who have used this also and they all swear by it. So if you can get some of that. Also, try eating ALOT of bananas throughout the day, that has potasium and helps with the RLS too. Heating pad helped me also, i used it on my legs at night.
Try staying away from anything with caffine in it while you are going through w/d. Drink lots of water, or Gingerale...
You say you have 42 pills left? If you have to, try just taking one at bedtime. This way, it'll help you sleep, but at the same time it'll just be like weaning off them. I would only take at bedtime though and no more throughout the day.
Hope this info helped you..
Good Luck 2 ya
Hope
hang in there. It will last a few more days but it will pass.
thank u and i will keep everyone posted i just hope that i get the strenght back that i had and the will of no being lazy
i think i will be going cold turkey cause of the new med to help i will try it this way unless u have a nother plan and what i really need help with is rls can u help
Hi Pete,
I just detoxed cold turkey from Xanax you can read my horror story below. I was hallucinating etc. I went into a psychotic episode and had to go to the hospital emergency room. It was the best thing I could have done, I was in for 5 days. They helped me to taper of f and I had a IV because I was so dehydrated. I'm still going through withdrawal but the worst is over.
It would probably be a good idea if you did the same. Can you have someone call 911 for you? THat way if you don't have insurance they have to take you and treat you. The person who calls has to say that you are going through extreme withdrawals and it could be life threatening.
I think a trip to the emergency room would be a good idea. I was for me. I'm glad my mother called 911.
Good Luck and hang in there it will get better, everyday it gets better, but you have to go thru a little bit of hell to get there.
This place is the BEST place for you to be. ALL the people here are great. I cant say enough good things about this site. You will have a rough road ahead of you but you can do this. What doesn't kill you will only make you stronger. So are you done or are you tapering? If so how long?
THANK YOU FOR WRITTING REAL QUICKLY I STARTED O 20 MILL THEN 40MILL THEN I WENT 80MILL 4 ADAY NOW I AM DOWN TO 2TO 3 A DAY BUT I HAVE BEEN ON THEM FOR 5 YEARS I JUST HAD FOOT SURGERY AND SINCE I AM OUT OF WORK ITS TIME TO GET OFF .PLEASE KEEP AN EYE ON ME I DONT KNOW ANYONE HERE AND ITS NICE TO TALK TO PEOPLE WHO CARE THANK YOU
I'm not sure how many Oxys you were taking each day or how long. I will give you my story and maybe you can compare it to yours and have some piece of mind. I was taking about 10 to 15 Norcos a day for 2 years and quit cold turkey. The first three days were awful and after that everyday got better. After 8 days most all physical symptoms were gone. Then it took me about 3 weeks for all the mental BS to go away. This time around I was taking about the same 10 to 15 Norcos a day for about 2 1/2 months and I tapered for three days. Within those three days I was still pretty sick. Which in my opinion it just prolonged everything so I quit cold turkey again. Only two days were really bad. I'm at a week today (Fri.) and I am still having alittle trouble sleeping and mental issues such as I'm sad and still alittle lazy.
It is going to take time no matter how long you have been taking them. I know at times it feels your not going to make it but, you will I PROMISE!!! Keep your head up and stay strong. Just make it over this mountain then the rest will be a breeze. I will check back and see how you are.
PS those baths REALLY do help. I lived in there for about 28 hours lol.
