i have a pretty messed up back too. and sorry to say i did not find anything that helped except ice packs. a good physical therapist can show ways to do things that will not aggrevate your back like driving , sleeping, sitting , working out.
i found out that the weather climate you live in has a lot to do with it also. cold is not good. and humidity is really bad. it will actually intensify the pain. i moved out to phoenix where humidity is avg. 10%. and what a difference! hardly ever have pain anymore. except when the rains come. hah and that is like maybe 5 times a year.

well thats cause they now that you are messed up bad.

sometimes there is no option. I know what its like to go through horrible back pain and surgeries.  there is no easy answer.  I am so glad my back is much better now, and I hope I dont have any more problems, cause man its as bad as it gets.

but I do know that if you cant get a lot of time off the pills your pain tollerance will go up dramatically, but whether its enough to over come your issues, bro I dont know......
