Thanks for the info. I am on an antidepressant. After I cold turkied (is that a word?) from the oxycontin in February, I got severely depressed in a few months. We chalked it up to PAWS.
But the dr. put me on 2 antidepressants. One of them works; the other I'm not sure about. I don't take the klonepin all the time, so maybe that will help when I come off of them. I know what to expect. And if I can cold turkey from oxycontin, I can quit the klonopin. But I will have to taper on the Klonopin because it's now wise to just quit benzos all at once. Thanks again.
By the way, why don't you create a profile? It's the new thing, don't you know? Everyone gets to private message each other.

Good luck to you on it. Yes, i have read not to take those regularly and then stop suddenly. These are 0.5 and i have only taken 1 a day and that was spread out a few days apart. But, thank you for the advice. I know they are habit forming when used for a long time, so be careful. Maybe you need to be on a anti depressant. Some of those stop panic attacks. Paxil worked for my husband for 5 years and then it quit. He was switched to celexa and fine again.
Thanks for the post . tJack
The dr. put me on klonopin 2 years ago when I started having severe panic attacks. But he didn't tell me anything about them, and stupid me didn't do any research. I took 2mg in the morning and 2 mg at night. Well I accidentally let my script run out and because I hadn't been having any panic attacks, I didn't think anything about it. I went for about 4 days without them, and I was sick as a dog. And then I made the correlation. It was all I could do to drive to the pharmacy to pick up the refill. The dr. then lowered my dose to 1 mg in the am and 1 mg at night. I sometimes take half of a tablet at night, but when I have a full blown panic attack I usually have to take a whole one or sometimes two. I'm eventually going to give these up, but that will be when I finish dealing with the ex. He's the source of my stress! lol
Good luck,
Yoda
It is once in a blue moon that i take one. I did sunday a.m. as I was pretty down. I am being very cautious. None yesterday or today. I wish this dark cloud would lift. It will take time and my dr. did up my lexapro to 20mg. So maybe I will speed the process up and then go back down to 10mg.
Thank you Steph and Yoda.
I googled it and this is what I found:
"The half life of Klonopin (clonazepam) is 35 hours. What this means
in 35 hours after taking a dose, half of the drug is still circulating
in your system. In another 35 hours, half of that which was left at
the first 35 hours, is circulating. And so on and so on, until it is
gone, providing you are not taking anymore. If you are taking your
daily dosages, then you maintain a steady therapeutic dose; the
optimal dosage needed to alleviate disorder symptoms."
I do know the withdrawals from Klonopin are pretty bad.

I found something that says 18-50 hours...
