As Zoezsweet said, not all muscle relaxants are addictive. Flexaril and Norflex are safe so far as I know. Methocarbamol/Robaxin is potentially addictive, as I know from personal experience, but the risk is low for most people unless very high doses are taken. In order of increasing addiction potential: methocarbamol << Soma (carisoprodol) < meprobamate; these three are all chemically related and crossover tolerance/addiction is a high risk.
What kind of muscle relaxers? I currently take Flexeril (cyclobenzaprine) and it is not addicting. I have taken Zanaflex(tizanidine) also non addicting. Methocarbamol another relaxer which did nothing for me is also non-addicting. I'm not sure what's up with my muscles right now but I also don't get much relief from my current relaxer. Be sure to post what kind was prescribed so more people can answer you. - zoe
My partner is addicted to soma and getting her off of it has been he*l. I would think twice and seek alternatives...exercise, stretching, jacuzzi....anything but pills. Congrats on your year+ and her 7 mos. Sure wouldn't want her to get set back. Is her doc aware of her addiction. If not maybe call the doc and make him/her aware and suggest alternatives. Maybe she can get some phys therapy. Good luck and welcome.
