occasional pain relief narcotic use

I just wanted to say what is't like for me being an ex junkie and getting older and the ramifacations. I used to be an everyday pill head, syrup swiller, dope taker and methadonian. 4 years ago I got out of that lifestyle for good but haven't been perfect. I needed narcotic pain releif about 10 times for kidney and gall stones and cervical disc disease. Most of the time it has only been for a few days but sometimes 4 or more . I can't say I don't enjoy it when the pain subsides, but I pay a price for these narcotic forays. I remember  early last week how good I felt to be clean and pain free and then I encontered some of the worst pain of my life, gall stones and was about ready to go back to Pa. from fl. for a short working vacation. Needless to say I took the morphine shots in the ER and the script and went on my trip and the pain subsided. I even got another script so I would't be so weak and quiet after the letdown from the first bout. All turned out well but I really wish I would not get this serious pain when things are going well. I'm now 3 days off and back home recovering from the narcotics and doing ok. I'm not looking for advise, smpathy or self-justifcation, just stating how it's been and wondering if any other ex junkies have these pain issues. all the best

Thanks, I  hope to go as long as posible between uses and would rather do it on a as needed basis than pain management. this way I can get the most out of it than by building a monsterous tolerence.I hope and pray for as many drug free days or months in a row as possible. all the best

Welcome to the forum!
I feel for you going through so much pain. I started out with pain issues and that is how I became addicted. I liked those babys way too much. Congrats on day #3 and be proud of it. It is hard to not take the drugs when in pain. Have you tried OC meds???   We are all here to support you on your road to recovery.

God Bless,
Tim
