oxy withdrawal

I am about to detox off oxycodone. Ive been take about 40 mgs a day, my story is so much like others. I had back problems and was on hydocodone. Then I had surgery and went on oxy. I was suppose to cut down but started taking more. I get a script from my doctor and then I get some from a friend. I cant stand the addiction. I know if I get through the withdrawal I should be fine. its like an iron curtain. I was wondering if there were any magic over the counter help and how long is this going to take. I do have about 18 5mgs left and am going to cut them in half and take less and less. I hope this works.

If you want it bad enough you will find that over the counter magic is a myth. You are the magic to make it happen. Not everyone makes it the first time but like I just said," You are the magic. "  All too often we think that there is a panacea that will make it happen. The miracle you are looking for is in your subconscious you just have to dig for it. I know what oxy is like. I was on oxycontin only for a month but was just as hooked as the next guy. I found myself wanting to take more and actually convinced my doctor to increase it  I was taking 80 mg a month but it was driving me crazy. Everyone I knew said that I had become a grizzly. I got mad at myself and one Saturday night, when I wasn't falling asleep( I slept eighteen or more hours a day) I went to the bathroom and flushed my supply down the toilet. I had no idea what I would be feeling and had no idea what withdrawal would be like, after all, I was only on it for a month. I wasn't prepared for the fact that withdrawal would start immediately. Despite the fact that the very first day scared the hell out of me I refused to give in. Two months later I was finally free. When I say," Free," I mean I was able to breath, eat and sleep better than I could remember. The main point in all this was that I didn't let that little pill continue to control me. After that time I was in control. What did it take? Willpower, which I didn't know I had, perseverance, the belief that I was stronger than little white pill, and the fact that I had managed to beat a smoking habit,( two and a half packs a day) doing it cold turkey as I was doing to beat oxycontin. This and a wife who knew I could do it. Also those who were here who gave me a much needed support. Can it be done? Oh, Yes!  Many addicts have passed through here who have managed to take control of their habit and have moved on. The person who can and will attest to that is dominosarah.

I don't know of any "magic" cure all but their are several things that will help ease the discomfort. Have u read the THOMAS recipe for detox? Many people swear by it. For ME music, heating pad, hot bubble baths, and melatonin have helped. The thing that has helped MOST is sticking close to this site. MEDHELP has so many interesting things to learn to keep your mind occupied and tons of people who have been where u are and are always willing to help... I had to go cold turkey BC if I had the pills I was going to take them. No questions asked. Good luck to you my friend
