I just wanted to reiterate what the others have said....dry socket is not something you want to deal with. I did my dental assistant internship in an oral surgery office and have seen grown men cry because of it. Please be careful.

No! No! No! Don't smoke for at least a week! You can not smoke or suck a straw! Like 10365 said you will get dry sockets! My mom has been a dental assistant for over 30 years and has been in every dental field. I had all my wisdom teeth out when I was 21 and I got dry sockets from throwing up violently. I threw up b/c the vicodin made me very nauseated. I ended up being in severe pain for over a week and had to get my dry sockets packed...which you don't want....its hurts like hell to get them packed and the medicine they pack them with is nasty too. Dry sockets are exposed bone, so thats why they have to pack them with a string of this gewy, nasty medicine. The good thing is that the medicine has strong numbing medicine so the pain goes away in like 10 to 15 minutes. Please don't smoke, you don't want dry sockets!!

No... I would really try to wait another day or two. You can get dry socket from the smoke and that hurts like He!! I know unfortunately by experience.. I wish you well... lesa
