Percocet

I started taking percocet in june of 09 for a hernia sx i had, I have been taking them ever since basically for fun, the energy and the happiness. I want to quit cold turkey i want NOTHING more to do with percocet. Today is my first day not takin anything. On any given day i was taking 3 or 4 of them... Today i have the chills, I feel like I have a fever, jittery, and lots of anxiety.... How long does this usually last and is there ANYTHING at all to help even feel a little better??? :(

im a 43yo guy! i have stuck my tongue in this live socket so many times it insane! the worse thing to do is relieve the misery with more misery! i have a 100 excuses why i took pills! the bottom line is you need to be structured! sitting around thinking about it will make it worse! the problem with that idea is you dont feel like brushing your teeth nevermind working out or whatever you do! i know from personal experience what everyone is going through! dont count on sleeping through the night or falling asleep easy. i love the way the pills knock you out, thats going to be the opposite for a week or 2! meetings helped me mentally, physically, i went cold turkey everytime! i sniff 60-90mg of percs at a whack! this wasnt everyday because i was paying $30 a pill. regardless of how much your taken, its gonna suck! the best advice i can give you is,your a slave to the pills! they own your ***, think about it,you are not in charge! regaining the power is friggin awesome, not easy but absolutely the balls!  people say take baths, walk, ect, ect! try to stay busy,in this heat i know it *****! there is life without pills trust me,im a pill head and i love being free! imagine waking up and the first thing in your head isn't,where the hell am i gonna score today! stop lying to the doctors and yourself! im not a bid aa guy but praying works! pychological or not it helps, good luck to all, your worth it!

the good thing is is that you haven't been on them that long, detox won't be fun but it shouldn't be that bad for you, im going through it right now for opiates as well.  Right now im taking some vitamins, getting in my sauna and doing a lot of reading.

But your symptoms will probably be intense for about 4 days and then you should get your energy back and everything should go back to normal except for the mental part.  You will probably still have cravings but cravings only last 15 seconds typically but with percocet and hydrocodone, normally on the 5th day you will feel a whole lot better no joke.  Hope everything works out for you .

Basically what helped me was taking a multi-vitamin, moderate exercise, immodium(diarrhea), Hylands Restful Legs(for the leg achiness), and lots of water!  If you were only taking 3-4 per day you should probably be feelin better in about 4 days or so.  I was taking about 10 norcos a day for almost 2 years and felt better by day 4-5!

Its definetly better to get off them now before the addiction progresses.....I wish I had and now here I am after 6 months clean dealing with a relapse!!  So im in it with you right now!  Trust me once you get off stay off!!  Who wants to go around life feeling numb??  Not me!!  We can do it.....last time this board was a life saver....I would read and post all day while I was withdrawing....just knowing others have done it and been successful and that others were feelin what I was feelin.  Tremendous support!!  Anyways I wish you success and dont hesitate to post....there's always someone on here to help!!

Hi and congrats on your decision to quit. One of the best weapons to fight the withdraws is exercise.I know that sounds hard to do right now but keeping physically busy as well as mentally busy helps so much.Get out of the house, even for just a walk around the block, mind numbing movies, cleaning out closets, posting here, anything to keep busy. You will get a lot of support here so keep posting. All the best.....Kim
