one other thing - when i posted about feeling bad for 3 -- 5 days, that's if you CT or once your taper is over, and your withdrawals start.
Sandy
sorry Cody...I posted in the middle of my typing.
You can expect to feel pretty bad for about 3-5 days. Chills, sweats, digestive problems (the runs), aches and pains, and nausea.
If you look at the bottom of the screen, you will find the Thomas recipe and the amino acid protocol. There are alot of tools there to help you through your detox. Immodium definitely for the bathroom issues. Get a good calcium magnesium zinc pill and take it with B12 - sublingual (under the tongue liquid) is best. Alteril or melatonin for sleep - that is probably the worst part of withdrawal and the last symptom to correct itself.
You will also have to deal with the mental aspect - anxiety, depression, restlessness, and this will take longer to heal than the physical part. You'll ride that emotional rollercoaster for awhile, but as the weeks go by, it will smooth out and you'll start to feel more like you again.
I know this is alot of information, and because you started so young, I would recommend doing this under a doctors care if at all possible.
I would also consider some sort of aftercare such as NA or one on one counseling with a therapist. Once people start to feel better physically, the cravings start to kick in - which is why after care is so important.
If you have any questions or just feel like venting, dont hesitate to post. We're here to help you.
Sending you well wishes...

That's definitely a high dose, but it's actually about on par with what alot of people here have come down from. You started at a very young age. Have you talked to your family doctor about any of this? Also, were these prescribed to you for pain or were you buying them off the street?
Either way, as I've said above, it's great that you're ready to reclaim your life and get off these pills once and for all. You can either taper or quit cold turkey. Alot of people prefer CT because they dont have the discipline to stick to a taper. In your case, I think tapering may be a better option for you.
It is against policy here at Medhelp to give specific tapering instructions; for that you would need to see a doctor or go to a detox facility. I can tell you generally that tapering is basically lowering by a specific dose each day or week, waiting for your body to adjust, and then dropping another dose. You keep doing this until you are done. If you CT, you just jump and quit where you are at, and I have to tell you the withdrawals will not be easy.
Either way you will go through withdrawals; if you taper down, the withdrawals will just be less intense, but you will feel mild withdrawal throughout your taper as you lower your dose each week or each day.
What to expect: the worst of the withdrawals will last about 3-5 days.
i use everyday 1000 mgs or 10mgs. not sure how to say that but anyway about 7 to ten a day. ive been using since i was 14 so about eight years. thank u for your help.
Hi Cody and welcome to the forum. Its great to hear that you want to stop your hydrocodone use.
First tell us a little bit more about your usage so we can better help you..
How long have you been taking it? Do you take it daily, and how many mgs or pills do you take a day?
Post back so we can help you further.
