1 mg. per day for 1 month

I was on 1 mg. klonopin for 1 month.  I began tapering and had difficulties and ended up in the hospital on Monday.  They did not give me any klonopin but gave me Tranxene 2x on Tuesday and Wed. and 1x on Thurs.  I didn't do too awful until today (monday).  I'm having serious problems.  The shakes, sick stomach, severe anxiety, insomnia, panic attacks.  Noone believes that I could be having withdrawals on such a low dose for such a short time.  They all think it's my original Generalized Anxiety symptoms re-appearing.  HELP...I'm crawling out of my skin with symptoms and don't have anywhere to turn.

Hi,  thank you for sharing.  My nurse practitioner told me that Clonzepam was not addicting and that Valium is worse, I don;t think it is.  I started to get anxiety after having asthma attacks. I took 1/2 of 0.5 mg pill and some days took 1 pill 0,5. THis has been going on for 2 to 3 months.  I ended up taking at least 1 pill and sometimes 2 per day which us 1 mg and I just quit cold turkey yesterday and I can't sleep, but I hate this medication.  It dries me up and makes my asthma even worse.  If I get up during the night I can hardly open my eyes.  I feel better already, just a bit nervous.  How long will this last?  I don't want to cut back, I just want to stop and the Docs office says no I must see the Doc first and the Pharmacist told me to taper off, but I really don;t want anymore poison in my body.  The anxiety can be bad but it passes, I just have to hang in there.  Can you suggest anything?  I take no other pharma except Xopenex rescue inhaler.  Thanks. I REALLY KNOW KLONIPIN WITHDRAWAL and I had tired for months to reduce it to almost nothing and when I finally gave it up (tiny tiny tiny dose) I had the worst withdrawal of any drug/alcohol I had ever had. AND NO ONE BELIEVED ME! I was in a hospital and they insisted that I was not experiencing what I was experiencing. I was so alone and frightened. Now, the good news is it really is time limited. Again the magic day seems to be day 3-4 by 10 days the worst is over and you will feel soooo grateful.
The guys in prison say that they think it is the worst withdrawal but the drug companies are still unwilling to acknowledge this. What really helped the most was any relaxation exercise you know like the ones where you go through all your body parts starting with your toes and first focus on them and then breath deeply and say to yourself "my toes are heavy and warm". Do this slowly with your entire body and I promise it will help. Good luck and remember "All things pass".

I'm headed to Summer House in Miami Florida to detox from this ****.  I can't do it alone.  It just got way to scary here.  So, good luck to all, and pray that I'll make it through it safely!!  God bless.

Yes, 2mg tablet that I was prescribed to take up to 2x/day. Can I ask what amount you are tapering down from?  How are things going for you so far?

Paulina:  Was that a 2mg. table that you could take up to three time per day?  I'm curious too as to what prompted you to go to the hospital.  I'm sorry that I can't give you any advice; I'm in the early days of simply trying to taper down my Klonopin to what's been prescribed because like HideandSeek, I take way too many of most things.  :(

Wishing you both well.

I think everyone's body handles things differently,  I just hope that you don't listen to some ppl when they tell you what you are feeling is wrong, YOU know your body!  I was on klonapin for several months 2mgs up to 3x/day.  Although I usually only took it at night to help me sleep or when I was having a panic attack.   I can say that I didn't experience any w/ds but I was also on sub when I just stopped aburptly,  Yes, I don't do anything the right way,  I take way too many of most everything and then when I usually stop something I often don't do that the right way either and just STOP, even when I'm not on sub,  Not a good thing!!!  Bad for your body and mind, That in itself will cause the panic attacks, My thoughts would be that you need to slowly taper off, but that landed you in the hosp, Did you go to the hosp for panic attacks? I can't believe the doc or the hosp didn't give you a recommendation on how to control your anxiety, etc during this time of coming off them. They will give us the drugs but often aren't around when we need to carefully and comfortably come off of them. Sorry, I'm not a lot of help.  I hope someone can offer some better advice. Hang in there and pls let us know how you are doing.  Just wanted to let you know I was sympathizing and thinking of you!
