1 month marker off opiate Painkillers!

Well today marks a month, start to feel human again after all, you fall asleep watching tv or reading and wake up feeling decent! Still a little mild depression from time to time but everything else is for the most part normal (stomach has it's days). Anyways my doctor prescribed me caridisopodol 350mg 2-3 a day as needed. He knows about my addiction to opiates but said this isn't a opiate and that I would only be getting a months supply to help with spasms in my back and hand (arthritis and old injuries etc) he thinks I'm more vulnerable coming off opiates which I am but I took one yesterday morning and I didn't need another one. It feels like a narcotic so I called and googled and was assured it wasn't but what the hell is this stuff it just feels like a xanax/narcotic it's weird anyways I'm curious as to what would be a good dosing regiment in order to avoid any tolerance or anything like that should I try to only do one every couple days? 2-3 a day with a bottle of 60 seems like a Vicodin in my personal opinion... sorry for the rant but just kind of want some opinions on this and what it is (barbiturates) should I toss em? It's been about 28 hours since I had that 1

First and foremost....BIG congrats on your one month off opiates!!!
I know you had 6 months once before and recall some of your story, just want to make sure you've cut off all your sources for them so you don't end up taking "just oneforfun"..LOL  Sounds like you are doing really good and beginning to enjoy some of the benefits of making it back to the other side☺
As far as the carisoprodol (also known as Soma)....if I were you, I would NOT take it.  I speak from experience here.  Even though it is a muscle relaxer, chemically speaking, it breaks down similar to a benzo in our systems. (Getting rid of them would be a good idea)  That's why your red flags went up.  Good on ya!
It was changed to a Schedule IV Controlled Substance in January 2012.
I am truly surprised your dr knows of your addiction to hydrocodone and still prescribed this to you.  For muscle spasms, two other muscle relaxers that aren't addictive that would work are:  Flexeril and Baclofen  You could call your dr and get one of those called in for your muscle spasms.
Hope this helps you.....and once again, congrats on your one month opiate free☺☺

Thank you both for your comments sorry about the late response. Now that we're on month two we had to make sure we had a decent weekend to celebrate. Yes I did have 6 months clean at one point but that was about 6 months ago now since I relapsed. Better aware of addiction and not giving into that " just one for fun" thought I feel better about it this go around. It's been the only thing I've ever been addicted to so can't touch them ever again or atleast I can't. As far as the caridispodol or however it's spelt, I took that first one and it felt like an opiate in a way but it did really help with my spasms. So immediately came here to ask about it ha but knowing it wasn't an opiate I figured since I only get the one script to keep them in the medicine cabinet for bad spasm days. I waited about 2 days after that first 1 and then 2 days ago I took one and it's been 2 days since.  It does say take 2-3 a day I figured since they have a short half life and wear off fast that if I don't dose again for the whole day and try to skip days I could avoid any tolerance or liking of the drugs affects. It's no opiate so I'm sure that's why I don't care for it but I'm sure if people started double dosing on these things they can get a pretty good high off it so i want to be careful as possible. is the way I'm going about it safe?c
I could switch it to a safer relaxer but keep in my mind I'm only getting this one script and my doc is not likely to switch the drug. so that's why I ask

You should google caridisopodol and get as much info as you can.  It definitely is abused and people become dependent upon it.  It's taken alone and also with opiates.  If you can do without I'd really stay away from it.
