well good news then it still sounds painful but im telling you ibuprophine is a great pain killer provided you not on narcotics if you are it dont work just take it slaow dont over work it and it will heal good luck and God bless......Gnarly
UPDATE: Went to the ortho doctor today. He said that I have an avulsion fracture, where the tendon was stronger than the bone, so instead of tearing the tendons, the tendon just snapped a piece of the bone off where it was attached. Sounds painful, but he said there's nothing they can do for it and it should not cause any pain. However, i obviously sprained my foot pretty bad and that was what was causing the pain, swelling, and bruising. So I did not have to get a cast and got a walking boot instead. Now I can walk without the use of crutches and drive and return to work tomorrow. YIPPEE!!!! Since dithcing the crutches, I realized that my foot doesn't hurt that bad, it was the rest of my body hurting from overcompensating for the gimp foot as well as the stupid crutches. Now that I can walk, the foot is still tender, nothing ibuprofen can't handle, but the rest of my body feels better. I still have to wear the boot for 6 weeks, and take it easy, but this is not anywhere near the nightmare it could have been! Thank God!!!!!
Day 18! I think I'm gonna make it!
WOW! Yesterday was ROUGH!!! My whole body aches, my foot, my arms, my hands, my bum.... What a mess I am! LOL. I think I'm hurting now from trying to use these stupid crutches! So, I did have to take some of the meds, but I've only taken 3 since yesterday morning, so thats about half what I should have taken if I were taking them as prescribed. I just dont want to throw myself off track here. I've come to far to go back now! I go to see the ortho doc tomorrow @ 1 and I'm hoping he'll put a permanent walking cast on so I can ditch these crutches and start getting around better. I have a 2 yr old and 11 month old, so just sitting around with my foot up all day isn't exactly an option! Fingers crossed and saying prayers today is a better day!
No this isnt a relapse. You have a valid reason for taking these now...
God, im sorry to hear this happened to you! it *****. We should start a club:)
Take the med when you need them, only for pain relief and you should be fine. The only thing i noticed was an increase in my anxiety so i don't think you will go through full blown withdrawals if you take them sparingly. If you need to vent etc message me
Overeasy
Well, I almost made it through the night w/out any help. Woke up around 5:30 this morning my foot pulsating and now I'm noticing all the other areas that got bumped during the fall (hip, rump and elbow). Not to mention the fact that my right leg is about twice the size of my left! Tried the ibuprofen with little relief. So I caved and took 1 5/500 with an extra strength Tylenol. I feel like a failure! I hope I'm not going to go through wd's again. But I did make it almost 17 hours w/out, so I'm going to try to keep pushing through the pain without taking anymore. i have to go see the ortho doc tomorrow, hopefully I wont need surgery. that will totally blow! *sigh*
by the way...does this count as a relapse? Should I reset my ticker? :(
You have a good plan in place so stick with it. Keep us posted on how you are doing~~sara
HI it su cks when something like this happens in early recovery .......if you can only take the lortab if you absolutely have to it will mess up your healing brain chemistry try ibuprofine or tylonal first if that dont take the edge off you already have someone holding the pills.....like i said your brain is just getting use to not having the artificial endorphins if you can keep it that way you will be mile ahead in your recovery keep it elevated good luck and God bless.....Gnarly
Well, its been almost 9 hours and haven't taken anything yet. they had given me a shot of Torodol (non-narcotic) at the ER and I guess its working well. I haven't even thought of taking anything yet. i'm trying to pretend that i don't even have them. If I can make it through the night w/out the Lortabs, then I should be good. here's hoping! Now if i could just find a way to scratch my leg under this temp-cast!!!! :/
Pretend Loratab hasn't been invented and throw it away :)
good job having your sister hold the pills!!!!!!
all drug addicts need accountability and none of us can be trusted with their drug of choice
HOWEVER, we all seem prone to think we can do it ourselves and we tend to avoid asking for help. So what you did was REALLY good.
