Is anyone craving drugs lately?

Is anyone craving at all lately? What are you doing to fight through and not use? I have been craving so bad past couple days, but together we can stay strong. I find music helps, talking to others that are in the same boat and remembering how I felt in active addiction. To anyone starting out on the road to recovery and can admit to being an addict, KEEP YOUR GUARD up, recovery begins after w/d's. It does get easier, but it's times like this that tests our strength. If your craving, talk about it, dont' let it build and build, cause then we are screwed! It's ok to have moments of weakness, but it's not ok to use. Anyone craving here lately?

i am beginning to feel like something is wrong with me. hah.
i honestly never have cravings what so ever. even when my back is in excrucitating pain, i cannot even bring myself to take an aspirin. taking any drug for pain is just not an option anymore. i know that it will just escalate and not really do the job anyway. making me wish that it worked the same as the pain killers had.

it is amazing how much pain you can tolerate when you know that there is no drug that can help you out. and ice really does help.

Mine funny enough has not been for hydro but for the darn cigs! Hard to understand.
I swear if they were in front of me today I would have fired one up.
Maybe the season, pressure from family, Dad not being here. Yup I think it is the season.

These do help the biggest poblem is the 16 screws and 3 plates I have in my foot.. I have the x-ray up in my album My Enemy.. it is fitting and very wild..

Ohh...you are in a difficult position for pain relief.Heating pads and epsom salt soaks and distractions as you have done will do wonders.As you said taking pictures took your mind off pain and cravings and gave time for natural endorphins to kick in.

I did not mean to sound rude,but was just asking why you can not take otc pain relievers if you are in pain.When i read my post it sounded mean and I did not intend it to be.Are you allowed to take anything at all or do you have some liver or kidney damage that certainly limits your choices.

Thank you Pharma.. I do take motrin 800 and it does work for the pain as well as knowing my limits.. I have hep C with stage 2 liver last I checked and have one kidney at stage 3 The drugs I have abused over the decades have not been kind to me... I stay away from most otc

Thank you James and Kim this means a lot.. we can get through anything if we fight hard enough.. for so many years I hid behind my addiction and it buried my very being.. I can not go back. my kidney would surly fail. my family would be devastated and I'm not about to give up the person I discovered I'm.. when I'm active my eyes only see the inside of my house and my mind is closed to everything around me. I would not survive in the tiny world of addiction.. this is my motivation it will always be this way..
when I did the od with the percs nurotin combo I could not write do simple math.. I did not recognize my house nor my room I believed my family had moved me.. I had delusions of the worst kind and I was trapped.. I will never loose myself again to my past or my addiction.. I'm in control now.. I may get bitchy and I may throw a fit but I will not give in.. a least this is what I pray for when I'm alone with my thoughts.. letakos

do you crave a high or seek pain relief?Can you not take tylenol or ibuprofen or percogesic for your pain?None of them contain narcotics and are quite effective.Tyl extra strength works fine for me now.When the pain relief kicks in it feels so good.

Im sorry to hear your having cravings. We sort of guessed this could happen. With all the running about, you being in pain and as you say the meds sitting there, it must be hard. But its the addict in us and we would find it very hard. I know we could still not watch someone take our DOC and refuse it. We are not strong enough for that. Im glad you went out and took some photographs and it made you feel better. Cravings are part of our recovery, you taught us that letakos. You will get through this but i know it must be hard but stay strong sister, like the strong person we know you are. Sending you strength and hugs too kim and james

I have found myself craving lately.. it has been a b itch to say the least..  and for the last week I have been also.....  I spoke with hubby about it last night as he has not understood my attitude lately nor have my dogs :( but anyway I told him it has been very difficult bringing him things all the time and seeing the meds sitting there and watching him take them.. I told him that it has been very difficult as I deal with real pain and taking one would give me that relief for a few.. also the addict in me just flippen wants some but the real me has been fighting like crazy producing a very grumpy person.. so today I took my camera out spent sometime with nature and feel a lil better.. he seems to be doing ok and does not think he will refill, it worries me a lil that he will suffer more but a part of me Needs it.. I do not know I guess I'm rambling just wanted to share and say I understand, but Thank goodness they do pass and they come less frequently when they are not here.. congrats to you on all your clean time The forum would not be here if were not for everyone of your contributions.. Youtube you are having laugh well i am thinking about it lol Kim might do it though but ill be watching her like a hawk on christmas day and Sara you right great band great film and a great album a lot of people dont know this but they realeasrd there fiorst album 19 63 or so Me and Kim went too london to see roger warers in London to see him perform dark side of the moon,and the wall a great night we will never forget and can rember it all as we had 2 months clean time when we went to london and we are very happy today highland fling though well were Scottish and only no parts of it you would need to be a contortionist to do that dance lol and as fit as a fiddle roger warers is the other half of pink floyd along with dave gilmour but you dont need me to tell you that Sara and your right a band steeped in history i argee The Wall strange film but great to watch

Yep i like Pink Floyd and the bands history is really interesting.  Many of these songs were written during a very low period.  Ever watch the movie The Wall?  That was pretty crazy.......Hope you are both doing the Highland Fling just becuz you can!!!!!!!!!       sara

on the crave myself.thank fully im not the only one and not the only one fighting it.went ridin in the snow today on my quad.that helped.tryin to warm up now so i can go back out again.snowin like crazy here and thats not normal for the beach.something real i can enjoy.LIFE.luv ya all

Ahhhhhhh, I just got back in and the craving today has died down, now I am so hungry, i won`t eat when i am craving. Ty for all the feedback.

I can't say I'm craving as I am still taking pain meds for my back. I have retrained my brain (if that is even possible) and have only been taking 2 in the evening in order to be able to sleep without too much pain. I have promised myself that if I ever take more than prescribed I will flush the rest and deal with the pain. I do go in for steroid injections Jan 11th so hopefully that will work and I can stop taking them completely. I know I'm playing with fire but am bound and determined not to get burnt. If I do, I know what i have to do. I've weighed the risks and decided to give quality of life a try. I just pray it all works out.
Just hang in there Giz! Cravings just let us know that we are still alive and kicking! I think they are a test to keep us in line. Music is a great way to fight through. Just get busy when they hit and occupy your mind. You're doing the right thing by getting on here and posting. Everyone here will keep you in line!!!

Hey Giz, Sorry your still having cravings. I think alot of us (me for one) are having a harder time this time of year. Happy times....stress....parties.....stress. I have so much to do before the holiday.....which is 6 days from now....did I mention stress??? I keep thinking what energy those lil b@stard pills gave me. I wish I just had 1 day before Christmas that I could just rest all day. Just remember for every reason you can think of to use there are dozens of reasons why you shouldn't. I know you'll pull through this Giz. You've learned this lesson too many times to repeat it. I'm so glad your posting....I should be too. Love, Corey

hi gizzy...i think its the time of year....so much stress with the holidays and we have to fight the winter months that for me are sooo long and dreary.  yes i believe that i as an addict crave when life gets so busy and then you go through the boring periods where a good high would feel nice....but as an addict i know i can never experience that again...things that help me like you said are music...i crank it up or put on my head phones and try to forget...also keeping posting when the cravings hit...we will get you through it...hang in there my dear and keep enjoying life free....it shall pass....maria
