The Imodium is really great. It helps way more than you can imagine. You can google it if you want to see.
I know there are some doctors using naltrexone but I don't know enough about it to speak to it.
What kind of pain do you have, how long have you had it, and what have you done to treat it? There are lots of people here who started with lots of pain and when they get off the meds, have much less pain and can manage it with other things.
I go on and off medications but I use a lot of other things for my pain. I have several chronic pain issues, some which are difficult to treat. I'm actually on Clonidine for nerve pain. I'm not sure how much it helps but my BP is high so I have no worries taking it. I use lidoderm patches, Voltaren gel, a compounding cream, exercise, ibuprofen and ice and heat for the pain. I've done a lot of procedures, some which helped for a bit and others not at all.
There's also a pain management forum here that you may find helpful. It used to be very active with a lot of regulars, like here. Over the past couple of years it has sort of become hit or miss, which is a shame. Still, you may get some help as far as your pain goes on that forum.
yea, the clonidine really puts you down doesn't it. Be careful of passing out. I lift stones all day for a living and on that I could barely lift my legs.
Try Imodium. It helps all around, not just with bathroom issues.
Thanks, Rosy. I'm so glad you responded!
Heather,
great advice - thanks!
I'm going to check out the Thomas recipe. ANd you're right about the clonidine - I'm having to hold onto the walls to walk! Thank you!
THANK YOU to EVERYONE for the great advice & support. I am staying strong and did not take any fentanyl or oxy pills. Prolonging this withdrawal is the last thing I want to do, so thanks again for the advice - I'll follow everything you guys said.
After detoxing from the oxys & fentanyl, I'll start slowly getting off the Norco. Having support makes this difficult process much more bearable!
Has anyone tried Low Dose Naltrexone? I've been on narcotic pain control for so many years and it does not work for me. Going to try something new!
Do not cut ur patch! U can easily overdose if u do that! Please don't cut the patch. Very dangerous
I missed where you said taking a piece of the Fentanyl. Don't. It won't help and it will just prolong things. You're really in the thick of it now and you should feel somewhat better in the next day or so. What lasted longest for me was the fatigue and my muscles were so heavy and achy. (But i also have fibro so it's sometimes hard to distinguish what's going on.)
Not sure which patch you're on but some patches should never be cut as it will release all the drug into your system.
Try some of the things that will relieve some of your symptoms and I think you'll be surprised how much they help.
Oh yea and MOST IMPORTANTLY keep your mind occupied!! Don't sit around thinking about the pain and the patch (easier said than done) I know!! Music helped me tremendously and I got through the cravings & WD's one song at a time!
Sweetie The last thing you want to do is put anymore of it in your system...even a little bit will only prolong the WD's. Your already on day 3 and will be turning the corner very soon! CONGRATS on taking your life back!! Take hot Epsom salt baths and drink lots of fluids! STAY HYDRATED!! Any exercise you can get in will help you tremendously! SWEAT THOSE TOXINS OUT❕❗ Stick close to the site and KNOW that we are here to encourage and support you through this each step of the way! Keep it up, one choice at a time❕❗
Sunny,
i have never done the patch but I will tell you everyone is different in my honest opinion a piece of the patch may help temp but it will prolong the w/d..Days seem like eternity but once your over this you will be so strong and it will seem like no time at all...Epsom salt baths google thomas recipe drink plenty of water eat soft foods when you can keep busy push through this and most important BREATHE!!
You are stronger than you know and I have faith in you
Why are you coming off? What else will you use for pain? Are you just physically detoxing?
Fentanyl is a little tougher than some of the other opiates but not as bad (so it seems) as methadone or suboxone.
I tapered off Fentanyl (a little too fast) and it wasn't easy. Don't overdo the Clonidine; it's an old blood pressure pill and helps with w/d but you don't want your BP to go too low.
Look at the Thomas recipe. There are lots of things that will help with the w/d symptoms. For the restlessness, a long hot soak in the tub with Epsom salts will help. Google Imodium and see how it helps with w/d, not just the stomach issues. Drink tons of fluids. I always wound up dehydrated and needing IVs. Being dehydrated makes everything worse!
Alteril is an all-natural sleep aid that I have had great luck with. Others say Melatonin alone helps.
There have been people who have quit Fentanyl CT but it's not easy.
