32 days....

32 days I have been off vicodin, these are the changes that have happened....
*got over a very sick obsession to opiates *got off xanax  *stopped enabling and removed drunken chaos from my home *saved myself $1300 just from not buying pills *started to reconnect with my family, this time with boundaries...started going to church....started becoming more productive at work....learning to control anxiety and not letting it control me.....and thats about it.  So far the best part is just not waking up to that heavy, sick feeling of needing more pills morning after morning.   And I don't even miss those fuzzy feelings that pills used to give me much anymore.  Is it worth it?  YES. Would I put myself through detox again?  Hell NO, which is why I will NOT relapse again.

Fantastic positive post about your great new life!  I m curious though, did you start out not wanting the warm fuzzies when you quit? Or did that come later, and if it did what day?  I am on day 13, and this is about when I would have gone back to the doc in the past and gotten a refill.  Not this time, the supply has been cut, I so want to get there like you.  The only temptation for me is that fiendish feeling the pills give off in the short term.

lol, you should have seen my attitude yesterday...yikes!  Attitude is everything though, when it comes to dealing with addiction.  A poor attitude towards it can take you down very quickly if you are not careful.  I am constantly checking myself:)  Thank you again everyone.  I am so glad to be a part of this forum.  It is amazing.

Akita - Your attitude is awesome! Very nice work. As you know I have a similar story to yours. I know how much of a struggle it is. I love what you said about STAYING clean, which is the key to all of this. Aftercare. Aftercare. Aftercare. Keep that attitude and you are sure to succeed!!

Great post - I am so proud of you.  Your post shows that YOU took action to change things which is really important - just because you get off pills doesn't mean life will change - YOU must make the change by doing all that you have.  GREAT job girl, keep moving ahead!
