37 weeks on subutex what to expect

I am 37 weeks pregnant and have been taking 4 to 8 mg of subutex prescribed by my dr. And my obgyn is aware of the medication.  My doctor told me when i found out I was pregnent that everything will be fine and they may keep baby for 3 days at hospital... Has anyone experienced this type of situation I'm not sure what to expect

Just take it as it comes. Don't read about the horror stories it will just cause
anxiety. As long as the doctors are on board and aware you are taking it, the hospital will be prepared and know what to watch for in the baby.
Most times breastfeeding is recommended. You will still have subs in your system and will help the baby with withdrawal symptoms, should there be any.
Child protective services will not be called as the doctor is aware.
It's when the mother withholds information and doesn't inform the doctors that she has used during the pregnancy then that is a problem.
Yes prevent any discomfort for yourself. The baby also feels it.
Keep the faith.

Yes sub doctor says if I feel ok to tapper down I can but will prescribe enough
To me so I don't have withdrawl... I am doing good with 4 mg but after two days I did have a small amount of discomfort and took a very small quarter of a tablet to stop the discomfort...my obgyn told not to go completely off meds until after baby born....but neither of my doctors have told me what to expect after delivery . I am having a cesarean so I will be in hospital longer than normal...I have read horror stories about babies being held for weeks and children services getting involved. My doctors have said nothing about these issues ive just read and heard other peoples stories... Half of me doesn't want to research anymore so I don't freak out the other half wants to be educated, but finding sound information has been a challenge for me. That's why I joined this forum in hopes for some answers

Did you just drop from 8mg to 4mg at one time?
Hun you can't this on your own. Is your doctor helping you taper.
You don't want to cause the baby distress.
Buprenorphine is much stronger than people think.
4mgs of Buprenorphine is equal to 100mgs of morphine.

I already have three children and after my third
Experiences serious stresses in my life I had pain pills
In the house and started myself on a road I did not
Know would ever turn I to such drama.... I never got into anything
More than the pills and when I went to a doctor for help
Put me on a very high dose of suboxone and told me I would
Be on this for the rest of my life...
I didn't like that answer and was working on getting off when this unexpected
But not unwanted pregnancy came to be...I have been so blessed
With great kids. My family other than my husband does not know
Of my medication nor do I want to open those doors
My life is happy and peaceful again and I want to keep it that way.

Thank you for responding...first off when I first became pregnant I was in
Suboxone and my doctor and pharmacist told me to switch to subutex.i believe because it only has one ingredient in it and suboxone has two.
My obgyn also told me it would not effect the babies development. I was originally prescribed 16mg and my doctor was happy with that because it was a low dose but would be happier if I could do8mg.  So I weaned myself down to 8 for most of the pregnancy but the fear of miscarriage due to withdrawl is the concern.  Now I'm two weeks away and am trying to stay on 4 mg for the rest of the time so the baby does not have to suffer...but it's very difficult to get answers from the doctors about what to expect...

Hey, i went on subutex when i was 24 weeks pregnant, 32mg daily.
Bubby showed no withdrawals, but had to stay in hospital with him for 7 days, because he was an at risk baby.
Of coarse there is a chance a baby may withdrawal from Subutex, but this is now becoming the prefered method over Methadone for pregnancies.
I stayed with bubby in a normal room, he didnt have phenabarb or any withdrawal meds, they werent needed.
He never went to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Again it wasnt needed.
I was very lucky he was ok, and so are many, many other sub babies.
But you do have to prepare yourself there are risks of withdrawal.
These days however, the figures are quite low, but it can still happen.
My bubbas 2 yrs 3 mths old now. And he is the beautifulest little bright boy ever.
Good luck to you and your precious baby
