I agree with the others. I'm only 35 days clean off methadone. The first 2 weeks were the worst, for me physically, yes, but it also took a little longer to feel better mentally, too. It may take 3 more weeks like your dr. said, it may take less to feel better. I never really had stomach issues either, just some mild diarrhea, nothing I could not deal with.  How's your heart? That's one big thing that scared me during wd's. Heart disease runs in my family, and I'm not a spring chicken anymore. I was scared I'd have a heart attack during wd's but didn't. Are you ok? Were you referred to a cardiologist for heart screening?? Hang tough. The worst is probably over, but you may have issues with sleep for awhile. I just learned to accept it. Last night, night 34 for me, and I slept a full 6 hours straight, with Nothing to help. I think that's the most I've slept in over a month. It DOES come back. Congratulation on your 3rd week! Hang on, you can beat this.

I,ve got first hand experience in understanding how difficult methadone withdrawals can be, I,ve been thier & can relate. I to never had stomach issues, & I guess I got lucky because I never had RLS, but I did suffer from lack of sleep & no energy, this is a very common symtom for almost everyone who gets off methadone, it does pass & before you know it you will find that your sleep will start increasing, this took me about a month & a half, but it does get better. As Lisa pointed out in her post, their are a few things you can try to help for relief, but in general for me anyway, the only thing that made me feel better was time, in time you will recover, hang in their! Congratulations!! That is awesome. The worst is probably over except it's going to probably last a few more weeks. Sleep is really the one that hangs around the longest, along with lack of energy and RLS. I suggest getting maybe some potassium supplements or eat bananas if you like them (people say it helps). If it continues to bother you (i know it's a horrible feeling) you could ask your Dr. for a rx called Requip. It works very well and is not addicting.
When i went c/t of methadone i didn't have any stomach issues either like you get with pill w/d..In my journals you will find an article written by a dr about methadone/detox/and some things you can do to help you get through this. It is similar to the thomas recipe. there is alot of great info in there. You will have a few more weeks, hopefully not more but hang in there..try hot baths also for your legs. Some have even had some relief by wrapping their legs in ace bandages..I am very happy for you! You'll feel better before you know it..
