I was taking about 80-120 mg of opiates every single day for at least a year, and 30-50 mgs just about every day the year before that. March 23rd of this year I decided it had to stop and I tapered for four days and haven't had any since and the desire for the opiates has subsided for the most part.
BUT....be careful with using the other drug because it's going to be difficult to come off of that as well. I considered going on suboxone but decided not to. I don't know about you, but I have a very addictive personality, and after I was clean for 7 days from the opiates I started having urges and I self-medicated these with small amounts of Xanax...which turned into larger amounts of Xanax in a matter of weeks so now I have to get off of THAT.
I think you should safely try to come off subutex as quickly as possible because it sounds like its just as strong according to abritt. You don't want to withdraw twice, trust me. I'm doing it with the xanax now and it's way harder than opiates and I took them for a much shorter period of time and not nearly as consistently.
As stupid as it sounds, what really helped me was getting one of those giant pill boxes that has like 5 compartments for each day and realistically setting your meds up in there. For me, that really helped because seeing them laid out like that for some reason made me think like "No, I'm going to leave that one in there. I'm not gonna take that today". And I was off them in a few days. Wish I never would've tried replacing one drug with another to ease withdrawal, now I have a new battle to fight.
2 quarters, or 4mg of subutex is equal to 16 - 10mg hydros, if you have the 8mg tabs/film. Like richart said, you are still on opiates, possibly more than you where before. If I remember right, you where taking 80mg of hydros, half the amount of buprenorphine you are taking. I tapered subutex down to .5mg or 1/16th of a tab and still had symptoms from quiting. Again, be careful with subs. What mg are the subs you are taking?
Subutex itself is an opiate so ur not really opiate free until you are off subutex I don't mean that to be like the bearer of bad news or anything but bupernorphine that's the opiate in subutex is actually one of the strongest opiates out there which is why such a small amout works but with the right taper it is also a lot easier to come off of than other opiates
