I detoxed last week, 120mg/day oxy habit. You should know your at about the halfway point for the worst of the WD's. It only gets better from here.....Everyone is different but what helped me was a ton of gatorade, or any other fluids, alot of hot baths, advil and this forum. Keep posting on here, it helps you not only pass the time but you can gather strength from peoples support, advice and encouragement. I'm rooting for you, Stay strong! You can do this thing. Let me know If you have anymore questions.
Oh thank god I'm about halfway...this is about the worst I have felt yet. i took a hot shower this morn for the first time in days (ew) and it felt decent...I would kill to have a bathtub right now.... in fact I may post an ad on craigslist to rent a bathtub...Ive been taking excedrin because Ive been getting some hardcore migraines with the detox but if you think advil would be more beneficial I could give it a try. Good for you man :) I wish you the best in the future and you are awesome for kicking that...I was at 80-120mg's myself and its definitely the hardest thing to do in my life..and I've raised a 7 year old alone lol.
Thank you SO much!!!
your doing well, make sure you drink plenty of fluids get some imodium for any stomache cramps, diorreah. valerian root and melatonin to help with relaxation and sleep,(although you may not get much yet), calcium and manesium supplements help along with b complex vitamins, if you look at the health pages, (top right hand side) you will see the thomas recipe, it has some good things to help you, i am 78 days clean from pain pills, you can do it, take care and god bless. sudie
Just to let you know ....I was taking up to 6-8 hot baths a day, dont stop at one, if a shower is all you got then use it, it really helps, I know time is probably standing still for you now too and if your occupying your time with showers for 15 minutes at a time... then that's 15 more minutes that pass that you don't have to worry about. I know that may seem small but your at a baby steps stage anyway....I really feel your pain and I wish you the best of luck, let me know if you have anymore questions.....You Got This!!!!!
Hey keep up the good work. I have been off vics and norcs since 03/04/11, and by my 3rd day I was feeling better... What has really helped me through all of this, every morning I like to get a cup of coffee and a cig, go outside and do some morning meditation! I know it sounds silly, but I like to tell myself 10 positive thoughts or affirmations about myself, that will help me get through one more day, hell one more hour sober! I also like to go walking usually after my meditation! The baths helped me a lot, I would feel a lot more comfortable in my skin after that! If the meditation sounds too silly, I would also suggest journaling... Even if its just a sentence! Getting the thoughts out of your head onto paper sometimes helps! I have a 4 yr old, so I know how hard it is trying to do this with a child! But I promise you, that it will get better and that you CAN do this! Stay strong and stay connected... Especially to this board! It was extremely helpful becoming a member on this board, when I first got sober... We are all here for you!!!! Keep up the good work <3 Jess
Thanks for the tips, I will send my mom out stat!!!
Rockbottom - Again, good ideas and thank you...I'm going to my fathers tomorrow to live in the jacuzzi for a day or so lol. Muscle aches be gone!!!
Jess- You sound a lot like me! I start my day with a coffee and cigarette as well. meditation seems like a phenomenal idea, not silly at all, as does writing. If the weather is nice enough (but with the constant chills its been hard getting it to be warm enough here) I go hiking. i am so happy I found this board and to all of you god bless and thank you from the bottom of my achy heart lol!!!
Just an update, still clean and feeling 85% like the old me again. I still am dealing with the goosebumps/sweat rages all day, and my appetite is completely gone...dropped ten pounds in the past three days...but the important thing right now is staying focused and strong. It's almost to the all mental point which I can beat no problem. Thanks to you all, god bless!!!
Oh...and I rented a hotel last night because of your tub theory. I don't have one at home so I plopped my shaking *** into theirs all sweet night and morning. It was bliss.
