56 days and counting

I am new here, but I'm glad I found this forum. It's gives me piece of mind to know that people out there are feeling or have felt the same way I do.  I have been clean for 56 days, probably the best and worst days of my life.  After 8 years of using pain killers ( any one I could get) Hydro, oxy, morphine well you get the picture.  everyday is a struggle but I have to make that choice to stay clean.  I wish I could get some of my old energy back though, I'm doing the amino's and vitamins but still extremely tired. I know the drugs depress your system but I wonder if maybe I have slowed my thyriod gland down to much. I have all the symptoms of hypothyriodism, And i don't know about the other ladies out there but my PMS seems so much worse now. God I hope that goes away or eases up. If anyone has any ideas let me know.

Congratulations! What an awesome accomplishment. Do you mind sharing your story or how you got clean...what motivated you if any one thing in particular. You can PM me if you don't want to pubicly announce it all. I am tapering off a hydrocodone addiction and I am just ... I don't know the word. I want to get clean I am scared of wds. But anyway I would love to hear your story if you wish to share!

Well, first off, congratulations on your 56 days...and counting!  You're right, the drugs do depress your central nervous system, and they can cause your thyroid to be underactive as well.  Since I've been off my stuff, I haven't had to take any levothyroxine at all.
