7 years later im ready !

My question is this . Its day two of Slowly coming off of Oxy and percocet  ! I dropped 12.5 the other day so that's one 10 Oxy and half a percocet . Today even though I had 2 10s my head feels buzzed out is this normal ? I am fed up with pain meds !

The only reason I am coming off it is that I hate the drug so much now I don't even care for it ! I was wondering even from coming off the drug slowly for a week will I experience withdraws no matter what ? Today Im dropping 10 mil again . Tomorrow even more .

The next step is getting off of ambient as Iv been on sleeping meds for 7 years as well ! I got rid of the ambien CR and got the instant kind so I can slowly tapper off this drug as well !! Wasted so much life on addiction !! Cant think today and .  who ever reads this will have a hard time . Sorry

I plan to be med free in 1 week

Hey there! Just wanted to send some encouragement your way.. I hope you are doing alright.  Sometimes the taper can draw Things out ( I ve read) and if you're already feeling awful maybe its time to face this thing head on and say enough is enough. Just a thought. You do what is right for you. But you could always take the power back, flush the pills you have and just move forward. Truthfully, you will have to eventually. I wish you the best and whatever you decide, I'm here to talk. Feel better my friend, and just remember, good days are right around the corner. Stay  positive!

CONGRATS!!!  That is amazing!  I pray for your kind of will power man. I am addicted to hydros and am working on getting off. How long did it take you were ur withdrawls insane?  I can't yet offer advice as I am still using but what I can tell you is this. THIS FORUM IS THE BEST!!! I have met some truly awesome people and I'm establishing a really amazing support network. If you can, reach out to GNARLY, WOLFMEDICINE and DOMINOSARAH to name a few. Best wishes to u, you're on ur way!!!

Grats on your decision to be clean its an amazing feeling to get out of that fog. I also was on oxy for about 5 years then went onto suboxone for about 2 and am now coming up on a month clean from the suboxone. I wish I would have never started taking them and just gone through the oxy w/d as suboxone just prolonged the inevitable and these w/d's really stretch out for quite a long time, so you have a plus there. After being on it for 7 years I would have to say yes, you are going to experience withdraws no matter what but tapering down should make them less intense. Just prepare for the worst as its easy to just start using again when the crappy feelings come, especially if you arent expecting them. You have found a great place for support, I dont know if I would have been able to make it this far without the support and information from everyone on this forum. Check out the health pages at top right for natural ways to help with the w/d symptoms (thomas recipie). Keep posting and best of luck.

Thanks guys !! I just woke up and I feel like a train hit me . I know I got 8 hours sleep but my body in bed said sleep more but I could not . My right Jaw hurts very sensitive  and my ears are popping ?

I was thinking can the gum-line move around and can drugs like painkillers dry out your mouth and now my month is getting water again ?

I know that lack of energy and yawning is definitely a side effect of tapering. I myself have been tapering off of Norco. Today I have only taken one and I have been constantly yawning all day. The only reason I have energy.. well at least SOME energy is because I've been chugging Red Bull's all day.

I would love to just be able to take a few days off of work and stay in bed... but unfortunately that isn't an option for me.

Fatigue & lack of energy is a FOR SURE symptom of tapering. Remember that even with tapering, you're still going to experience a certain amount of withdrawl symptoms. They're just going to be less severe, but those you do feel will be stretched out over a longer period of time.

If you went cold-turkey and just stopped, the fatigue would be fairly severe. Some folks just can't get out of bed for 2-3 days, or sometimes even longer.

I applaud your effort to stop, and I'm proud of you for continuing to post even though there has been a lack of response to your post, although now it'll be up top so maybe more folks will weigh in.

Keep us posted Brother!

I have found that tapers are a waste of time unless you were at a very very high dose. I would just sustain from taking any more pain pills and find the w/d from there. You are down to such a low dose that I think you will be fine. I went c/t 4 days ago from 250mg/oxycodone a day and am getting through it one day at a time. It is best to make it as short as possible and not wait it out. Yes you will feel extremely week and most likely sick from a taper. No matter how small the decrease your body will always feel it. Keep in mind that a tolerence is still being built and your body is actually requesting for more of the drug not less. So any taper is going to cause some w/d. I would jump now and get it over with. It will only be a few days and youll start feeling much much better. -John

I need help.  I'm on 2 40 mg of Oxy a day and three percocet 10/325 for the break thru pain.  I'm starting to take more a day than I should for reasons of stress of not having a job now.  What do I do first.

Be very careful with the xanax..it is just as addicting and a HELL to come off. I am prescribed both xanax and valium and ran into a problem with it at first but now I only take it once week at most. Just use 1mg before bed it def does help a great deal with opiate withdrawal. Or if there is someone that you can give it to that can give you if daily that would be an even better idea. I just would not take it any longer then 3 days or youll be in a whole new mess.

Hey there. I just thought I would see how you are doing. I too am new to this site, and have also tapered. I am just 2 days clean now from an ever escalating percocet addiction. I'm sorry to hear that the taper hasn't been any help for you, it seems. And I'm sure the last thing you want is to feel like you're in withdrawals, even mild ones. Fearing that they will get worse when you actually stop all pills.  When I tapered I didn't have too many issues with symptoms. I just got to a point where I felt comfortable and confident enough to just quit. So I was glad to taper first. I couldn't have cared for my child and functioned as much as I've been able to if I had ct'd.  Don't get me wrong, I'm only on day 2 and I'm certainly not out of the woods yet, and I'm not symptom free by any means.... but its been manageable so far. i pray it stays manageable. i just hope u r feeing better. if u feel like youve gotten to a point where you can just ditch tje pills all together, awesome.but get rid of them, flush them, i did! you really have to, and that itself gives you strength. i dont think the benzos are a good idea, period. i worry that u will rely on those and never get to experience being truly clear headed. I'm not judging, its only out of concern. if i can help you at all im happy to. I  understand what you said about not getting too many responses here. I was lucky enough to get help from someone on hete with a few similarities to me and she was incredibly helpful and insightful. So it might not be quantity, but quality. and it looks like youve gotten some good feedback so far. best of luck and you CAN do this. it does get better

I had chicken for lunch and glass of juice then 2 hours later I felt the effects of Oxy . It feels like I took 2x the amount I would taken . have you felt this before ? Almost feels like I could of taken a lot less today . Very weird !

Hey. I just wanted to make sure I understand your post.. so you've taken less today and feel the effects of it more? Is that right?  If that's the case, when I was tapering my body slowly adjusted to the decreases. I used 5 mg. percocet, and usually hovered around 15 a day. sometimes more. when  I tapered I went to 10 for a few days, then 8, then 4, & finally to zero.  i also waited as long as i possibly could to take a pill when i tapered. so, towards the end i did notice that when i took them it almost seemed as if they were stronger. i dont know if ots because i wasnt eating them every hour or what, but i def. noticed it. i actuaslly felt really drowsy and out of it.. not good with a small chIld around. so that's when I decided to just stop. I also didn't want to taper for too long and get "comfortable" at any dose. also, I didn't want to feel that way, didn't want that anymore. I guess I don't have a real explanation as to why that happens when you take less/feel it more. but DON'T get sidetracked by that "high" . If you feel like you need to take less and continue tapering until you are confident, then be strict and honest with yourself. but just remember that  you will have to stop eventually, so don't be afraid to just go for it. it seems scary as all he!! , But please believe me when I say you can do it. I thought I would be keeled over and dying now, but its day 3 and thankfully I'm doing ok . not 100% but I'm alright. I'm really grateful for that! And my head is getting clearer every day. I see things differently. the key is staying positive. put all the same effort into getting better as we did into getting sick.  I hope I've helped you, atleast  somewhat. this is a learning experience for me as well. but posting and being honest, and remembering thast it DOES get better will get you far.  keep at it. ill be here cheering you on!

thanks for the support ! And I am cheering you on to ! :) I think the energy from the oxy was the distance I took the last dose . 23 hours later on the Oxys percs 11 hours . My body must of went crazy when it felt the drug .

today i took oxy at 11:30 am and that will be it until tomorrow except for the percocet that i wll take at 6:00 pm and 1:00 am or 12:00  .
