Is Adderall addictive?

This is way beyond when you wrote your post, but I felt compelled to write.  Adderall is highly addictive.  I am an addictive person, beating alcohol and opiates, but when I began to take Adderall, before long I was snorting it exclusively and the dose rapidly increased from 60 mgs to sometimes 200 mgs a day.  I have quit many times and slept for almost a week.  After that I went months with little energy so I'd always go back to it.  It is basically pharmaceutical meth. It is as bad as coke; it's just legal.  I'd go to multiple docs to get enough to last the month but sometimes I couldn't and the withdrawal was hell.  Anyone that says stimulant drugs are not physically addictive do not know what they are talking about.  I was so fatigued I could barely get up to go to the bathroom.  And the depression is scary.  I think it's a shame that detoxes don't accept you if you're a speed addict.  We need help like everyone else.  I regret ever taking the advice of someone who told me to snort it.  I may have not gotten addicted if I didn't go down that road.  As for controlling it, good luck to you because I have tried and I'd last two days and then that was it.  I cannot control it.  I am an addict to many things and I must stay away from them.  I found Wellbutrin helpful for energy and focus and though it's been just a few months I feel as if I will not use them again.  I've gotten so much positive feedback and before I stopped people were telling my husband that I looked horrible so I guess it does a job on your looks, too.  I hope you have conquered your problem.

They are right Pico! I am currently on adderall was max dose daily of 60mg(ADHD patient for 13 yrs), now on 30mg daily, electively chose to see if I can still keep that same focus and concentration on a lower dosage. Its only been one day on this dosage so, I will know by mon or tues.
I didn't realize how powerful this stuff was until about a month after taking it as prescribed by psychiatrist. Not to mention, I was never told of any potential dependencies or addictions, I was never told of potentially hazardous side effects. I was told this when I asked "Is there anything good or bad I should know about when I take this? What side effects, if any should be normal or abnormal?" Psychiatrist response was this word for word "No, no side effects, it can keep you awake. Adderall is a great new medicine that will work well for you, it is getting great response." Felt very comfortable with it, and it did and still does work great.
However, I left it at home when I went away one weekend, realized I forgot it, and said "oh well, no biggie." By about sat around 2p I was in hell, and really didn't know why. Put two and two together and was beside myself when I called a pharmacist and said I was withdrawing and "coming down". I was so confused and then angry. Got home immediately took adderall, ten minutes...was a completely different person, I was on top of the world. That scared me. Next day, assertively questioned doc, and she gave me the B.S. of blabber to cover her ***.
Everytime I get online to various addiction sites there is always hundreds of people on adderall that abuse it severely or can't even ween off prescribed dose. It is a highly controlled subtance. When abused, it can trigger halucinations, anger, irrational behavior, and extremely poor judgement. Insomnia too, that can occur with your regular dosing, it happens to me if I take my last to late. Ive stayed up for three days straight one time, the first week on them. I was like "this is kind of weird but I guess I will sleep eventually." I got A LOT of stuff done. People like it instead of using cocaine or speed-its legal and if you have insurance coverage, you get a months supply of uppers anywhere from $0-$40!
Vyvanse is a new prescribed pro-amphetimine ADHD they just released. If you do chose adderall do tons of research and ask doc questions. Best of Luck!!!

and don't take more than prescribed.  My 18 year old daughter and one of her friends took (snorted?)
3 of them one day and were bouncing off the walls for 3 days.  My wife called me at work and i told her to call an ambulance..she didn't but it was an interesting couple of days ending with her being invited to find another place to live (eventually rescinded after 2 days).  She learned this little trick in a facility in which she was hospitalized after threatening suicide.

Just read up on it. If you start Adderall, your commiting yourself to it, kindof. You'll need to taper off of it if you ever want to stop. Withdrawal from it can also cause seizures. I

Why do you ask? Are you presently taking it, or know a family member that is taking it? Yes it is a amphetamine. It is usually prescribed to adolescents diagnosed with attention deficit disorder. Going cold turkey on this medication could lead to chronic fatigue and anger management problems, and weight gain.
