Addicted to Vicodin

I was prescribed viocdin 5mg codein/500mgm acetametaphine, 1 tab every 6 hrs, for my fibromyalgia, arthritist, and recent diagnosis of spondylolthesis.

I needed to take 2 tabs in order to obtain relief, and have been taking 4 to 6 tabs daily depending on my pain level.

Have been seeing a chiropractor for the painful spondylolthisis, 3 times a week for 6 weeks, and the pain is less.

I have tried not taking the vicodin at all and feel very depressed. I am also on 2 antidepressants Lexapro 30mg and Wellbuterin 150mg SR.

What is the reccomended way to wean myself off the vicodin ?  I know that I am developing a psychological dependence, because of the depression

I am not a doctor and truly think you should discuss this with your doctor as he/she is much more able to direct how you should do this...........that being said, it may not be too hard for you to get off it.

Good luck.

At 4-6 tabs a day, you shouldn't have too much trouble going off of them. Have you talked to your doctor about how you are feeling? He/she could put you on a taper plan and/or maybe adjust your antidepressants to ease any symptoms and possibly put you on a non-narcotic pain reliever.
