Addicted to pain meds i need some support or something

My drug addiction all started when i was 13 years old, When my mom got lung cancer. And she was getting perscribed her hydrocodone ( loratab10 ) and i did not know what it was it just said, " take 1 pill for pain " and i really was in pain so i took one.  When it hit me i felt great and pain free. and my mom never took any kind or narcotics. so i started taking them all the time.  when i was 14 i got in a really 4wheeler wreck that gave me a concusion and herniated 2 discs in my back.  so my doctor perscribed me hyrdocodone 10. and i was on that, up until i was 17, then i got percocet 10/325, and the fentanyl pach at the same time i loved them bc they made me feel even better and it helped the pain even more.  After i graduated i got 33000 dollars because of a settlement when my dad died so i had all the money i could ask for.  Well i started buying stronger pain like oxycontin, roxicodone, Morphine. and i was eating oxycontin 80mg like candy anyways i would take around 3 oxycontin 80mg a day and i would take most of the time any were from 8 to 14 roxicodone 30mg and 15mg also, and i would still take my perscribed pain meds all in the same day and i spent 33,000 dollars in 2 and a half months, and now all of my money is gone.  I just let the pain pills takeover My Life, but i want to quit my pain meds, i can't stand my pain anymore. but i dont know what to do.  Because i will have to take atleast and Oxy80mg and a couple of Roxicodones but i really need some advive on what i should do because if i dont take a pain pill within  3 hours i will go threw withdraw, but i really do want to be off of them but i am struggling!!! can someone help me out  and make me feel a little better.

Hi Travis,  Welcome to the forum.  I can feel your pain - all of us on here know exactly what you are going through, we have all been there.  The best recommendation that I can make for you is to get some professional help.  Do you have any resources available in the form of rehab or a detox center?  I was hooked on a 200mg+/day hydrocodone habit and then went on Suboxone for nearly 4 years after that.  I just detoxed in June and it was the best decision I ever made.  I could not taper on my own, so I had to seek some professional help with a medically assisted detox.  The program lasts between 3 - 8 days and the withdrawal symptoms were minimal at best - they took really good care of me.  I have not had the urge to use at all since the detox. If you don't have resources that you can tap into, read the Thomas Recipe on the Health Pages, it will help with the withdrawal symptoms.  Also consider tapering off the meds, this is done slowly by reducing your dose and by also going longer and longer inbetween doses.  Do you have someone who can hold your pills for you and dole them out in controlled amounts and times?  Keep posting, there are lots of people on here who can help you throught he process.  Take Care

Hey Travis

My name is Sonya. I am an addict.  Go to a treatment center. I think you need a doctor that knows something about addiction. Ask around find a doc. You can be free of this but it is one of the hardest things you will do and on the same note the most important!!! After you stop the pain meds your body will play tricks on you. It will tell you that the pain is so bad. That is the addiction at work inside you. You are so young you have a good life ahead of you. i had to leave my kids and husband to get treatment. Please go now. It sounds like you will need non addictive pain meds for your back so you need a doc that understands your addiction. It is a disease and it is strong. Good Luck Becareful.

Thank you both for giving me advice and supporting me!
And salsinator, the doctor that gives me my pain meds, is a really good doctor, and i can trust him. i have had withdraws about 2 years ago but they was not that bad, but also i was no taking oxycontin and other very strong pain meds like i am now, But as you know its the weekend so i can't see my doctor. but i think i am going to try to taper off them first, i don't want to go threw so many bad withdraws, so im going to try that first. and he will help me out with the tapering ( i hope ) And yes last night i gave my pain meds to my mom to monitor. and i have only taking one roxicodone 30mg today, instead of 8-14 a day plus the oxy 80mg.
Sonyaaddict, i went to rehab for it when i was 15 for the opiate abuse and i stayed clean for around 6 months and then the pain just got so bad in my back i had to have something other that over the counter meds, and i have been back on them ever since.  But i am saying to myself, " i can do this, and don't let the drugs take over "Me" again".
And thank you both for giving me advice and supportive! i think it helps alot with the whole process of things.
Keep in touch!!
