Thank you both for your helpful responses. I sincerely appreciate it. I printed out your responses as a sort of checklist for my myself. I guess the next challenge is to keep this all real. Ive always managed to fool myself into thinking that if I can be strong enough to acknowledge my addiction, then I really didnt need anybody's help. My ego has thrown up some very high walls against real life....but even walls can crumble, thank God.
Thanks again.
I wish I would have listened to people a long time ago about after cause brother when I finally surrendered and sought aftercare it has made it so much easier and has given me strength that I thoughti never had now don't get me wrong its still hard as hell but aftercare is essential to staying clean. When people on here would tell me getting clean is the easy part stayin clean is a life long battle I would say they r crazy I can do it.......lmao......I was so wrong.Good Luck and God Bless
HI welcome to the forum...
your story is like most of us here, so please, stay here getting support from other addicts like you, you don't have to feel alone in this fight ..we are all fighting addiction here ! :)
getting clean is not as hard as staying clean, rick.. we need making some life changes... leading a very healthy life ( exercise, healthy diet.. a disciplined life ), getting rid of any toxic relationships and going to the root of our problems and our addictive behaviour ( NA meetings, therapy, addiction counselling...whatever may work for you )
are you going right now through wds ? In that case i could give a list of some advices we all share here to you to make those days a little bit more tolerable..
have a read to the health pages ( right side of the screen ) the amino acid protocol, there are some advices , take what you may need and leave the rest.
immodium ( diarrhea )
advil
a good vitamin complex and a good B's ...
some magnesium ( best chelated )+calcium supplements... to help you with muscle cramps and aches
potassium rich food... apple/orange juice , bananas, spinach, raisins, nutcrackers..
a good chicken soup, tomato soup, eat as healthy as possible ...some protein shakes.
this is very important, .....drink a lot of fluids to keep you hydrated ... gatorades, green tea ( theanine on it, will help your mood and to relax), tonic water ( it has quinine and it will help you with RLS )
Hylands restful legs to help you with RLS , hylands cramps legs
maybe some natural stuff to help you with sleep like melatonin and valerian root ( good for anxiety too and it helped me with the stomach cramps , imo).
lots of hot baths ( with epsom salts if you have them ...)
start with walks and some light exercise as soon as you can to boost your endorphines, enjoy the sun ... exercise will really help you a lot to feel and heal :)
