Although we can't offer medical advice, we CAN offer support and strategies for dealing with dependence/addiction issues. keep us posted on how you are doing
Butalbital/Acetaminophen/Caffeine (Fioricet)
This medicine is a barbiturate, an old-school tranquilizer. They have been pretty much replaced by benzodiazepines. Like benzodiazepines, barbiturates must be tapered off of, not stopped cold turkey. Because a taper schedule is considered medical advice, we are not allowed to post them. Addiction to barbiturates is a serious matter. You need the help of a good addiction specialist. If that's not possible do all the research you can. Lots of info about this medicine in the web.
I've never had experience with this either. I'm sure someone will respond soon that has more information. In the mean time, I'm praying for you!
Hi and welcome. I checked and didn't see another post from you. Someone will be along shortly and give you more info than I can give you. However, I just want to tell you that we can't give out taper plans. That is something you should work out with your doctor. I am not familiar with the drug you are taking, but that sounds to me like a huge amount and if you are taking that many, I doubt that you would be able to taper. Please don't despair because someone who is familiar with your drug of choice will see this and help you.
