Addiction

I'm addicted to percocet. I take 4 to 6 a day. Can anyone tell me how long it will take me to detox? I hate being addicted & want to be me again.

Its different for everybody. Generally, most of the physical stuff will be better by day 5 and then its time for the mental healing. Make plans for some aftercare like therapy, meetings, church....whatever your into....just make sure you do something because its the mental aspect that causes us to relapse so you need to learn tools to cope. Wishing you the best.

Always,

I'm glad I asked, because I was going to stop cold turkey. Thank you so much for the advice. I really want to quit. I've never been dependent on anything in my life & hate myself for getting addicted. I will be on here regularly. Here's to the first day of the rest of my life. .

Just try to be sure to taper and not do it cold turkey alone. I'm trying to stop as well and am down to biting off a fourth of a 10 of hydrocodone. Even when you get down this low taking that last bite is scary. There are so many people who will support you here. Post when you need us.

Symptoms may appear as early as 4 h, peak within 48 to 72 h, and subside after about a week. The withdrawal syndrome can include symptoms such as restlessness, lacrimation, rhinorrhea, yawning, perspiration, chills, myalgia, mydriasis. Other symptoms also may develop, including: irritability, anxiety, backache, joint pain, weakness, abdominal cramps, insomnia, nausea, anorexia, vomiting, diarrhea, or increased blood pressure, respiratory rate, or heart rate. To prevent the development of an opioid abstinence syndrome, you should decrease your daily dose by 25% to 50% per day. If you develop symptoms of withdrawal, the dose should be raised to the previous level and tapered more slowly, either by increasing the interval between decreases, decreasing the amount of change in dose, or both.
