Addiction

To start off, I have a neck disorder called Torticollis that began about 2 years ago. The mucles in my neck and shoulders will not relax. It is a very painful disease.I get about 15 to 20 Botox injections every 3 months which helps. Before I was diagnosed my family doctor started me on Vicodin 500 then 750 then 10/650, every muscle relaxer there is and sleeping pills (Ambien) also Valium and Ativan. I started increasing everything and last year I was taking 4 1Mg Ativan, 3 Somas, Zoloft 100 mg, and of course 2 vicodins all before bed. Through the day I was taking the Vicodin, I took about 6 a day. I finally decided that I wanted to quit smoking and stop the Vicoden. It has been 8 days since I have taken any. I was taking 10-15 10/650 a day, along with 4 80mg of Oxycontin daily for about a year now. The doctor started the Vicodin then added the Oxycontin about 6 months ago and said to take the Oxy then take the Vicodin for the breakthrough pain. Even when I didn't need the medicine after my injections started to kick in , I continued the vic and Oxy for the feeling it gave me. It was the only thing that made me function and clean my house and work full time and school full time, single mother of 3. I quit smoking, 2 weeks ago today, on the patch. 8 days ago I stopped the Vicodin.

Thank you all for your support. Marce4, I am on 2 20mg a day because i couldn't take the pain in my body from thw withdrawals. I didn't want to go through any of that in front of my children. I think we are all doing a great job! The first step for us was to admitting to ourselves that we had a problem. Thats why we are here. It has been 9 days now with no Vicodin. I had to take Ativan to sleep last night. 15 days for no smoking. I have been drinking lots of water. :)

Hey...welcome to the forum.  This really is a great place. I hope it helps you as much as it has helped so many others!  Are you still on the Oxy's?  You've really taken a huge step by quitting the vicodin and smoking!  Together that must have been tough!  You should be so proud of yourself. I know that stuff made me feel like supermom too in the beginning but it got totally out of hand! (Money,stealing,w/d, etc.)  I am so glad to hear you are on your way to recovery! Whatever we can do to help, please ask away!  Great job!
