After treatment

Hi everyone....well, I decided to check myself into detox on June 9th.  I didn't trust myself, and was getting to the point of asking my partner to go to the liquor store for me....my parents were worried, I was arguin with my Father, the rage inside of me was paramount!!  I needed to be safe away from any kind of narcotic and alcohol.  I went to Toronto, and found help abounding.  I needed to get the toxins and go through the withdrawals in a safe place.  I couldn't do it at home alone, having to go to work, feeling so sick.  I was cared for wonderfully.  I have a strong aftercare program set up with an addictions specialist doctor at a Toronto hospital, as well as an outpatient program at another hospital.  This is the only time I have been opiate and alcohol free in 3 years.  The doctor prescribed suboxone, 3 tabs a day.  There is no euphoria or a feeling of being high.  I just feel some joy returning.  I started to draw and sketch in treatment, which I have never done.  Little things give me pleasure again....Our plan is to taper off the suboxone starting in 4-6 weeks...
Thank you all for being here for me....your friend always....

Thank you all so much for your support and encouragement...going to see the addictions specialist in Toronto again today.  I feel transparent now, everyone knows everything about this part of me.  My partner and sponsor, along with my employer hold me accountable, and I'm relieved. (along with you folks on MH)
Freedom from counting pills, from looking at the level in the bottle, knowing I will be doing the exact same things the next day.  I was so disconnected....
Gratefully yours....

Oh girl~!!!
I am so so very pleased to read this!! I was just thinking about YOU yesterday~! You have given yourself an amazing gift by choosing to go into the detox/rehab treatment ... taking time set apart to focus just on you and your sobriety and recovery program.

It sounds like you have a solid program set up with your doctor... stick to it girl... :) do you have someone to help stay accountable? your partner perhaps? a sponsor?  I am just so darn tootin' happy to read this for YOU!!  It's a struggle to do it on your own.... you have now put in place some real tools (ie. outpatient program) which will strengthen you in your recovery... you're NOT alone :).!!

Keep at it girl~!! Choose LIFE and keep choosing YOU honey cuz you are so so worth it!!!

congrats on your decision to check into rehab.  I hope you get your life back  and have new beginnings.  I have been in rehab before several times, the last time I was there they put me on 16 mls suboxone a day although I only took 8 mls a day ;then they put me in the outpatient suboxone clinic ,do not do this yourself if all possible.get off as soon as you can.i think you,ll be better for it if you do.don,t get me wrong suboxone is a miracle drug if used correctly. I,m 9 days clean today from opiates quitcold turkey . feelin much better .hope you get what your looking for .peace out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
