Aftercare

I just wanted to thank you all...yet again...for your words of wisdom!
I've taken your advice and called our local alcohol and drug service re aftercare...they pointed me in the direction of the AA and NA...
I then spoke to my hubby about it... today's not a good day for him...his w/d's off methadone are NASTY!
He said he didn't seem to think he was going to NEED it!  I pass on all your messages to him and read out loads of interesting info to reassure him that he's NOT alone. I'm a novice at this and I know I need to be careful that my enthusiasm and energy isn't too overwhelming as he's feeling the complete opposite at the moment.
ANYWAY!!! I called a friend who's been clean from drugs and alcohol for 8 years...he has attended meetings every week for all of those 8 years!   He came over tonight (unexpected!) and was like an angel sent from heaven!
He's such an amazing guy...he bought with him info re meetings and has offered to go with my hubby to meetings to get him in the swing of it!  Although he can barely get up off the couch tonight I'm so pleased my friend came over and took the time to chat.  I'll keep you all posted on his progress.  Oh...and I'm going to start going to some AlAnon meetings too...long time overdue I think...should've done it years ago...no time like the present tho!
Thanks again and again and again!!!

Again..ur hubby is so very lucky to have u!

No one can feel the ain of addiction unless they have been there..it is not  a 1,2,3 process to getting clean

I remeber when i quit  told my best friend..she smoks alot and drinks alot..she came over a week after detox and said"You r so strong, u dont probably even think bout those pills anymore"  i SAID "TURN OVER ALL UR WINE AND CIGS TO ME RIGHT NOW   AND THEN i WILL ASK U IN A WEEK IF U R JUST TOTALLY OVER IT!"

sorry for the cap button there for a sec!  I also know that those who have never experiwnced chronic pain can relate either..addiction and chronic pain are very similar..u just dont know the pain til u have felt it..hence...i never judge anyone nor attempt to judg them..i have not walked in their shoes..u r an empathetic and caring person...he is so very lucky!
