This is so dang old of a forum but i have had a subutex script for a year with 90ct 8mg a piece. My insurance covered all except 40$. Appointment cost 100$ per visit. I was not an addict and never had been. I asked a friend to take some percs and **** in a bottle so I used it.
web sites for suboxone, www.suboxone.com find physician locator based on zip codes.
also www.naabt.org, very informative and educational, order the free kit and CD offered.
The suboxone cost about $6.00 a piece @ Walgreen's the 8/2mg dose.
Thanks for the info........still debating on whether or not I'm going to go that route but I think it may not be a bad idea. When you stopped taking the sub did you go through another round of WD's or was it tapered enough that it went ok?? I don't feel like I'll be trading one addiction for another with those just a short term crutch. Still got lots to think about.
I was on Sub for 10 days and i only needed 8 pills total. so it can be done fairly inexpensively. My first doc visit was $150 and that included 4 8mgs Subutex pills, 60 clonidine, and samples of lunesta. My second visit was $100 and it included 4 more 8mg pills of Sub. The doctor I went to gave the pills at the office in order to help break the addict pattern of going to the pharmacy. This worked great for me, I am almost 6 months clean. In my profile there is a FAQ in my journal with tons of Sub info including a short term taper schedule for those looking to use Sub as its intended tool for detox and not replacement therapy.
OK.........just to make it plain and simple........my quit date is Dec. 18th.......not a plan but a set date and time. There are multiple reasons for the date mostly revolving around drug use. I know I will be functional after 7 days...........regardless of whther I'm on sub or completely cold turkey. Now when I say functional I mean not in pain from withdrawal not cured or fixed by any means. I don't have a problem with short term my problem is mental after I get through withdrawals. WD's suck but I've been through em enough that I know the sun still comes up every morning.
Went back and read my post and I can see how you questioned the date thing.......it shouldn't be ???'s behind the statement it was supposed to be !!!'s.
Playing the devil's advocate here but anything besides total resolve in quitting can only lead to relapse.
Steve, you stated "I'm planning on my quit date being Dec 18th".
What is YOUR quit date.
I'm planning on winning the lottery, soon.
Why wait 13 more days?
Do you think you will be functional after only 7 days, I wasn't. A week before X-mas is cutting it close for feeling good about your self. Try not to set goals beyond what is in front of you, narrow your focus and the goals are easier to achieve. Two weeks ago I wasn't planning to quit, 10 days ago I did quit.
not sure about sub. I checked one time and there was none in my area (anniston). You can do a google search for sub dr's in alabama. I think it is pretty expensive.
There is a methadone clinic about 20 miles from where I live so I'll give them a call soon. Didn't know you could get em there too. Hopefully this one does. Methadone is not an option for me...........I know its worked wonders for others but I used to use it recreationally years ago and wouldn't feel comfortable going that way! Thanks for the info I wouldn't have thought to check there!
The methadone clinic i went to near Dallas, Tx. also had Suboxone. You might see if there is a clinic in your area and see if they have Sub there. I wouldn't do the methadone, to many ppl have a real hard time coming off. My clinic was pretty cheap to get started, $80.00 or so for blood work and the methadone was $9.00 a day and Sub was $10 a day. If you stay on about a month or so it might be something you can afford. If you go to a doctor, without ins. the Sub is about $7 a pill depending on the dose at a pharmacy.
Google it hun. Not a good idea to give out web addresses here.
Yes, you need a doctor who is certified to prescribe it.
Whats the website??? Do you have to go through certain types of doctors............or can any doc prescribe??
I am in PA. It is fairly easy to get it these days since they changed the laws in February of this year.
You can go to the Sub website and find a doctor in your area. I am fully insured and my doctor would NOT accept my insurance. I paid him $250.00 for the first visit, and $90.00 a week there after. The pills were $6.00 a piece. I was on it for 16 days and it helped me a great deal. I have underlying medical conditions that made going cold turkey a bad choice for me, so the Sub helped.
Good Luck in your decision!
Whats avg dosage for my kinda use?? I figure if its 7 apiece could I get away with 1 a day or 2??
I'm looking to be back in the Army by Feb. so..........2 months would be cutting it close but possible. My usage has depended on what I was using but on avg. prob. 100-120mg's of hydro/day or 200-240mgs of oxy/day. But I have done the CT thing when my usage was higher. My relapse was just outta sheer not giving a **** anymore but like I said taking a diff. approach this time. Thanks for the info!
And the pills are $7 a pop w/out insurance
Sorry, I forgot to mention that I live in SD and see a doctor in Fargo, ND
Congrats on setting a date to quit. Sub has been wonderful for me, but I plan on being on until I am completely comfortable getting off of it. If you want to be aggressive about it, I would say a doc would put you on for 2 months or so, depending on your current level of usage.
I have to say one thing and that is when I was in treatment, the addiction doc put me on 3 days of dolmane(sic) and ativan. Then I was put on 8 mgs of Subutex and weaned down to nothing in a week. Looking back on it now, I feel that I was rushed off and it led to my relapse three months later.
Each person is different and I urge you to go at your own pace.
Luke
ps. I have insurance for my Suboxone and it is $25 per 30/mo supply and my doc visits are $110.
I think I'd only like to be on it (if I go that route) for as short a period of time as possible. How long does one normally stay on it.........I'm going to be very aggressive with my quitting so.............with that in mind would 1 script probably be enough?? What did u pay for the script?? I've got a probable doctor hook-up that might save the visit $$...........or do you have to go through a certain type of doctor to get Sub??
Hello, and welcome to the forum:) Though I don't live in Alabama I too explored this option without insurance, and for me at a few different Dr's offices, the office visit was $300.00 for the first visit, and that wasn't including prescriptions, on top of this every office visit after that was $100.00. When you get the prescription though I would recommend going to Walmart or somewhere big like that, Walgreens, and your 24 hour pharmacies were so much more expensive. Just some food for thought, hope this helps. Take care, Ba
