Am I addicted?

Well, I went to the dentist and got a route canal done... he prescribed Vicodin (I used them all, and it got infected so they refilled 3 times for that 4 week period) No problem yet! Then I got a bladder infection and was curled up in pain... Urgent Care gave me Vicodin. Then I started getting pain in my feet and legs... Urgent care gave me Vicodin and sent me on my way. Ok, so I understand that this is their job but I didn't have a family doctor and didn't know the specialist to go to. Nevertheless, I want into the Urgent Care for my migrain and I was on THE LIST! The "do not give vicodin to LIST". So they gave me a shot of Morphine and sent me on my way telling me never to come back looking for drugs here again. ALL of those times and even now that I know I have planter fachiotous I really am in pain. But my Podiatrist gave me 20 Vicodin and it was gone (after sharing three with my dad who suffers Chronic Back Pain) in 3 days! I got my mom to get me some more from a friend at work but I lied to her and my husband that I was only prescribed 10 and thats why I have no more.

I am a babysitter and although I am an amazing care taker, I have stolen for 3 house now! What the hell? I only take one a day now but I feel like this is an addiction. Tomorrow my dad will get over 100 pills of Lortab. He usually gives me some. Should I take the 10 or so that he gives me and see if I can make it last what, 20 days? And if not start the Rehab process. Or do I just take this stupid pain and rely on advil? Is this addict talk? Is this someone who can not make a logical decision because the only thing that makes her happy is a pill? It's 4:40am, I am in pain right now and no one else is awake. What do I do? I am ashamed! Is this ever going to end?

I had terrible plantar fascitious and they only gave me cortizone injections and shoe inserts for the pain...wow.  I remember lots of times in my life when I was in genuine pain and only got motrin. Course if I had got the good stuff I might have been an addict long ago..hmmm?

I surley do agree with those that advise you to get a grip right now before it is even worse. And thats the only direction it takes from where you are...........

I agree that if you are feeling that way and acting that way, then you do have an addiction issue.  I think the best thing to do is stop cold turkey now before it gets worse.  That's my opinion.  It's not easy and there are days you feel like ****!!!  But, it's worth it.  If you do stop there are things to help.  Take walks, hot baths and on the bottom right hand corner of this page there is the Thomas Recipe and the Amino Acid Protocol that can help with the withdrawals!

Honey, please stop the insanity now before it gets worse - because it will.  Don't hate yourself - choose to love yourself and live your life clean and free.

I also have chronic pain from fibromyalgia and it's not fun, but I'm so thankful to be off the narcotics!!!!

Good luck!!! You're in my prayers!!!

I have this gut feeling of hate inside of me for myself because my mom got me some Vicodin and was keeping it in a secret place and giving it to me when I "needed" it. But at the time I needed two, not one! So I found the stash and have used them. I don't think she knows that there are only two left in there. I am tip-toeing around the elephant in the room and I am afraid of when it is going to BLOW!

Back Pain is one thing that I know. When I was younger (and oh so innocent) I got in car accident. I had the worst back pain and was actually a candidate for surgery. However I went to see a Chiropractor and he fixed me. You really should look into. It would be a proactive movement. Seeing a DR that can not prescribe medication is the best route as well. The key to successful treatment of back pain is abdominal strength. If your weight is great where you are at, then the only thing you need to work on the the strength of what holds your back together, you stomach!

How many pills are you taking a day? If you are tapering, when is your D day? When is your "done with medication" day? Is there ever a day like that. Does this mean that if I have an issue and are given medication, I can't use it?

I want to ask you how to get them from Canada.... please do not tell me!!!!

sounds like a problem..if u r worrying about it then it probably is a problem..get out while the getting is good..stealing pills, lying to get pills and feeling like u need pills are all bad signs

Hey cat! I don't want to refute what you are saying but I am trying to heal myself, but sometimes thats what causes the pain. I am working out and walking and waring the dumb shoes. But is one a day addicted? I guess I should just look at it as an addiction and stop before I get to the 10-15 a day like some people. Don't get me wrong. I have taken that many because my body was so used to the pills that 4-5 didn't help. I just feel like tomorrow/today will be so bright and happy and painless if I take a pill!
