Am I devoping a habit?

Hello, I am young Canadian man, I managed to do pretty well through highschool although I partied a lot on the weekends  and had a close friend who I lost to a cocain addiction, and by that I mean he got kicked out at 14 and moved to East Vancouver so I ended up trying cocaine with him when we were only 14. Didn't do it for years and then when I graduated highschool I met an older crew of buddies and started getting into doing cocaine when I was really drunk with them. I've been out of highschool since 2010 and I'm doing it more regularly when I'm drunk. I've never done it sober and I stand by my own rule that I never will. I never crave it when having a few drinks or when I'm not partying, just when I'm getting really drunk and partying with my friends. I've partied 4 or 5 weeks straight now and done it every night I drank hard. Once I'm on it I like it and can stay up till 7 or 8 on it (usually stop doing it around 5 or 6). Sorry about the biography but I'm just wondering if I have a problem, I know I like to party real hard but is this hard partying getting out of control and do I have cocain problem?! Thanks for any help

""", I know I like to party real hard but is this hard partying getting out of control""""  getting?  it already was.    You have an alcohol problem (and drug issue) that you need to tackle now while you're young enough to save your life.    Yes it is a matter of life and death.   How's that for a wake up call?

Hi, and welcome. Yep, it don't take no rocket scientist to tell you that you're headed for trouble you can't handle if you don't figure out a way to have fun without doing coke/lots of alcohol. The two together are like a Lucifer/Beelzebub demonic tag-team. You can die. This combination produces heart attacks, status epilepticus (meaning seizures that don't end--your heart gives out and you die of cardiac arrest), and strokes--and a bunch of other fatal stuff. I was the RN at our county jail for three years, and it was a real education. I had care of 300 young men stuffed into a 175-person maximum occupancy old Alabama jail. I liked the guys very much and had lots of conversations with them. Almost all of them were in jail due to drugs in some way---and with a full 75% of them, it was alcohol and/or cocaine. The other 25% it was Dilaudid. The worst part? Almost all of them had lost a family member or a close friend dying from coke and/or alcohol. Some of them completely broke down when they told me how much misery they were in and how sorry they were that it had gotten totally out of hand. Please think about the choices you'll make in the days and weeks to come. Please choose health. When you're young, you're bulletproof--most of the time you can squeak out of trouble and end up with a story you can tell your grandchildren about someday. However, this isn't the case with coke and alcohol. Unfortunately, you can destroy your body without even knowing how fast it's going--and end up with a dead liver. I was telling another dude about how I witnessed a patient only 32 years old dying of that, and that it was one of the most hideous deaths I ever witnessed. It took two months to die, and each day I came to work you could hear him screaming, asking to die, but it took him an inch at a time. And it was alcohol that did that. Coke together with alcohol equals turbo liver killer, and heart attack city as well! I know I sound like an old fart fun-killer, but honey, please think carefully. There are other ways to have fun, even wilder than what you're doing, and they don't rot you from the inside out like those two drugs you're messing with. Okay, I'm done.

Seems to me that if you are questioning yourself , that you are developing a problem. Maybe you need to slow down on the partying and stop drinking. Once you stop drinking then maybe you can tell if you actually do have a " problem "

I just wanted to comment and bump you up so some of the more experienced members can help answer this for you. When you said its getting out of control I would say -yes that is a problem/addiction. Maybe in the infancy stage of addiction-but if it worries you and you came here-you know deep down something is not right.  Listen to these other members,,,they know a lot.
