Ambien and withdrwal symptoms

I have been taking Ambien to go to sleep for over a year and fear that I have lost the ability to fall asleep naturally.  I would like to stop taking the Ambien but I've been afraid of the withdrawal symptoms.  I don't have a doctor right now to help me with this but I will follow any advice that is given to me.

Darn never took ambien. You can call the hospital, and they will help you out. Or even the pharmacist can give you pointers.

Might be a good idea to get a professionals opinion. I know there are others on here, but always look to the ones schooled, and then see what everyone says. Then take the best for you, and go for it!!!

I was really hoping someone would  say it's okay just to stop taking it.....I have 5 other medications i have to quit taking on top of that- Lorazepam, Wellbutrin,Lexapro, Abilify, and Topamax.  That is if I go through with my plan to find out what person lurks under all this stuff.  It's been years and years and years.

OK some of those I stopped cold. Topamax I just stopped about 3 months ago after over 2 years on it. Koved that I lost 50 lbs, but hated losing hair lol. Lexapro just stopped on a dime about same time. Never felt anything from either.

Lorezapam/ativan, now that was a different story. Tried to quit cold, but after one day decided to taper after what felt like death warmed over lol. Still only took me about a month.
