I COULD NOT AGREE WITH YOU MORE!!! great post...thanks!
Lurker- OH YOU ARE SO VERY RIGHT!!!
i am one of the ones who has to quit c/t. Don't know if i can handle it but i have to. Being able to see that i am not the only one out there with this problem, really helps to read the stories and have people to talk to that know what i am going thru.
I'm with you all the way on that, and Thank You.
Right on brother. I could not have said it better !
Really great post. I'd like to add one thing. Not only should we not take away hope, we should be careful to offer our advice, opinions and history with compassion. Treat people on-line as you would like to be treated. I get very frustrated when I see posts that belittle others or are derogatory and rude. We are all here because we have a disease called addiction. We want to be treated with kindness and compassion and should treat others the same. I'm not saying that we shouldn't call a spade a spade or be blunt when we see someone who needs to hear the hard truth, but there is always a way to do it with kindness and compassion. I hate to see people who post something indicating they need help and a response that is rude, belittling or derogatory is put up and you never see that person again. We owe any addict the compassion and empathy we ourselves want and need.
Thanks for the post Mary!
Yeah, Anyway you can.
Just do it.
good post , we all have gotten clean diffrent ways there is no one way that is" cleaner" then others.
I have tapered ,I have have ct ....guess what that both were not much fun ...in the end the the result was the same I was pill free.....
Plus i really dont think it helps anyone when people tell you if you didnt do this way you wont stay clean........
We are all here for the same thing some support

Great post---everyone is different and i was aslo a cold turkey gal...Tapering kicked my butt, and i rather do it then go through weeks of what i felt...

Yeah! What Mary said!
She's right on the mark.
I'm a cold turkey kind of gal. My biggest fear is switching from one monkey on my back to a different one. I think you have to look deep within and be really REALLY honest with yourself as to what you know will get you in trouble. I looked at all the pharmaceutical (and some herbal) options and felt like a kid in a candy store -- hence cold turkey. I think it was earlier this week that I was agreeing with someone who said "I never met a pill I didn't like." But that is my bailiwick to carry. I think we all just have to be honest with ourselves as the very first step, otherwise I think it is doomed for failure.
Not a professional or an expert, just a participant in life.....

NO Ahhhh-Choo at all today!
I'm that in the closet person. I have a legitimate reason to take pills after 3 surgeries since august and a chronic painful disease that i live with everyday. But, i know that i sometimes take the pills just to cope and to keep from going into withdrawal. I'm tired of that I also dont want to drag this out.
good post, hope is everything
