Any advice or encouragement is greatly appreciated!

Hi guys. On day 4 here from opiates. About a 300 mg a day situation. I did think for the first three days that I was dying. I made a bed in my bathroom so I could he near my best friend..the toilet! Today, I can't believe this, but I forced myself to sit outside in the sunlight and though I am sweaty and weak and can't eat yet, I think there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I suffer from life long..since birth medical conditions causing severe chronic pain. But as bad as the pain is, it is nothing compared to the emotional.and spiritual pain I have suffered as a result of becoming addicted and abusing the meds. I can't write more, cuz I'm too shaky, but wanted to share this if it might help anyone as well as would love advice if you have any. Thank you.

Thank you so much you guys! It's so encouraging to have such lovely support. Yes Sonrissa, I have been doing the portions of the Thomas recipe as I can. I couldn't hold down liquids until this morning and that has helped a great deal. Because I have an autoimmune disorder, I keep nutritional drinks around and started with those today. Thank you to all of you and for reminding me to just chill and not be hard on myself. I have been in recovery for years in a seperate area and it helps to apply it here. I'm amazed that what was suposed to ease my physical pain has ended up being this nightmare. Thank you for your advice and kindness. I have been reading all of your posts for the last three days, I just could not formulate a thought to write until now. So even before you met me, you were all helping me get through these tough days. So, thank you!! Bless you!!

I also welcome and congratulate you.  Sonrissa gave you great advice, and the only thing I might add is be kind to yourself.   Your body has to have time to heal, so please don't be discouraged if you have energy issues for a few weeks following detox.   I promise you, you will feel a little better every day, and though you may have your ups and downs....it will be a gradual trend upwards.    Don't give up the fight....and post often so we know how you are doing.

Hi Meagan and welcome! I'm glad you posted! Congrats on making the decision to quit and for getting to day 4! Typically, although everyone is different, day 4 can be one of the toughest during detox! Getting outside and into the sunlight, is great and should certainly help! Also, take some Immodium for the bathroom issues, and it also helps with other symptoms! It you haven't already done so, check out the Thomas Recipe at the bottom of the page! There are some vitamins/supplements that you can take which will help with other symptoms like restlessness, aches and pains, sleep issues and such! For me, after day 4-5, the physical symptoms started easing! If you can, get some light exercise! Even taking a short walk can help with your mood and low energy! Make sure you are eating if possible, or, if not, drink some high protein energy drinks, like Ensure or Boost! I'm sure I've forgotten some things, but others will be along to add advice and support!

Keep posting anytime with questions or if you need any support! Take care and I wish you all the best!
