Anyone addicted to Tramadol as bad as I am?

I have been taking this horrible medication for well over 6 years now! I have tried getting off of it and never make it. I even went to a 7 day-detox, which helped me get off of it, but when I got out I got right back on it. Has anyone out here had the same experience with this drug? Honestly, not a lot of people here, in Austin, Texas know much about it. I couldn't even find a rehab here that actually treats people for Ultram (Tramadol) addiction. I cannot kick the habit. This drug makes me feel good, but then again, I always feel tired, nauseated and even had a grand mal SEIZURE last week from taking too many! Scared the crap out of me and I woke up in the hospital! I didn't even know what had happened to me! I just want to find an online support group, dealing with TRAMADOL. I would like to hear from other people in the same boat! I am a 35 year old woman and have almost lost my husband because of this damn drug. I lost my state job because of it too! Long story!!

Have you notice that when you are on tramadols that if you are a smoker that you can smoke even more. Man I can smoke like crazy when I am on them. They give me a good rush.  it is crazy. I want to get off of them , but I dont know how. They also make me thirsty, like crazy. And I get an energy like never before. They have aslo made me lose weight. Alot of my family are addicted to this medicine and we can't get off. The withdraws are the worst, and some of us cannot take it. My brother in law had a seizure the other day, but he was taking to much. I only take so much and if I see that they are not hitting anymore I don't them. I leave it alone and I take them just to get the edge off.

I went through a week of withdrawl last week from about 12/day..worst feelingin my life and I HAD to work and I was also on 24/7 on call...it was miserable..my doctor refilled my script, I handed them to my wife and she's doling them out to me as prescibed..and then start reducing by 1/2-1 pill per day...if it wasn't for klonopin I don't know what I would have done and my wife giving e 1 of her vicodin once per day...

Why doctors do not tell patients or are not aware just how addictive this stuff is is a mystery to me.

I dont. I just get lazy and i hate that itchy thoat. lol it  funny  I hate it. I am fixing to run out and i am going to be with drawing  for   this week. But you know what I do. When i get a grip of them. I save me like 7 pills. and I work my way down. I take one a night just for me to sleep. and it works. Just save you a couple of them and when you start going low just take one or two just to take that feeling off of you. I have on them for like 6 years and this is the way I do it and my husband. and if we dont have any .oh well. but if we do. oh sh*T

If you want to pm avisg (or anyone here for that matter) click on their icon and you will be directed to their "profile page".   Click on "send message".  This will enable you to send a pm (private message) as contrasted to sending "notes" which are public.

I was taking tramadol for six years, but I was only averaging 8 pills/day since I didn't realize I could get them on the internet. (thank god!).  I stopped cold turkey about a year ago and yes withdrawal was HELL, but I knew I didn't have the self disciple to "taper" and I was sick and tired of experiencing withdrawal symptoms every RX cycle, so I jumped off afte a quick taper.

I have known MANY who were taking 20-30 pills/day who have successfully stopped c/t.   But I'm with avisg...70 pills/day is - um - uncharted water ...and I have read THOUSANDS OF POSTS from tramadol users in the past year over on Emily Post's site.  Is there any chance you could get back into the "detox place" you visited for 7 days?   I generally don't believe that most physicians understand the problems with this drug, but at your (high) dose, I wouldn't be comfortable seeing you try to break free without medical supervison.  If that isn't an option (and yes, most rehab places
don't recognize tram as a "real opiate") you will need to taper slowly until you can get under at least 20-25 pills/day before even CONSIDERING stopping entirely.

Unless you can stop, this drug will kill you at the doses you are taking. I'm SERIOUS as a heart attack Lauriea!

The drug was introduced into the world markets in 1995 by a German Drug company without adequate testing.  It is actually "scheduled" in five states now.   Although it is a "synthetic" opiate, it has all the properties of any natural opiate.   And as you well know, over time on the drug, a person's TOLERANCE to the drug builds up, so that it takes more and more of the drug just to make one feel LESS UNWELL.  In the end, it isn't about feeling good at all.  The best we can hope is to feel less unwell.

I would be FAR more concerned about your life than relations with your husband at this point.

Personally, if I couldn't find a clinic that will admit me for "tramadol dependancy", I would try to score a "real opiate" they could test you for and maybe then they would admit you.

This drug isn't safe at any level, but at 70 pills per day, you are nearly TEN TIMES what the medical community recognizes as a "safe" (HA) daily dose.

My sincere bet wishes and prayers are with you my friend,  Fred

I was taking up to 70 50mg pills a day! Believe it or not! I got the pills in Mexico AND on the internet. I go down to the border all the time, because my husband is from there, so I had no problem getting them. I had the seizure last Saturday. My husband said it lasted about an hour too! I've tried the slow taper thing and I still feel like ***! I guess the only conclusion is: if Tramadol is in my body, I am going to feel like crud! I just don't understand how this drug isn't scheduled or controlled. It is HIGHLY addictive, in my opinion. Although, I know a lot of people who have been prescribed it and they hated it. They said it made them feel horrible. My luck, it made me feel great, like I could accomplish stuff and have energy. Now, these drugs have turned my life to sh*t. My husband won't even touch me anymore and totally withholds affection from me, cause he is so angry & bitter about finding these pills in my purse over & over again. He just told me tonight that he has no lust feelings for me whatsoever. I feel so ugly!

Tramadol is pretty prevalent on the board. We see people trying to get off it all the time. What's your daily dosage?
