Anyone have info on Shantix?

Just wondering if anyone has any knowledge of Shantix helping someone quit smoking?
My new primary Dr. wants to start me on it soon to quit smoking. I did try Wellbutrin, and it
sent me on a suicidal rage.LOL. I'd like to stay away from psyche drugs all together. Thanks.

Thanks Tippy. I'll look up the interactions on drugs.com. Hopefully Chantix
will be on there, since it's so new.

I'm currently on Oxy also and it doesn't interact at all.  Not sure about the Methadone though.

Thanks Tippy. I guess I'll go for it. I don't know how it will effect the low doses
of Methadone and high doses of oxy I'm currently on?I'll do a search.Thanks.

I have taken Chantix before and am currently taking it.  I quit smoking the first time I took it within 4 days of starting it.  Of course, I got stressed out one day and started smoking again, sooooo I started taking it again about 3 days ago.  It works really well at curbing your nicotine cravings.  However, like most medications, there are side effects.  My main problem with Chantix is that it makes me extremely nauseous.  My doc recommended eating right before I took it.  I tried that...still vomiting.  Then, he prescribed Phenergren for the nausea and told me to take it 15 mins before the Chantix.  I tried that...still vomiting.  So then, the only other thing he could tell me was to take them together and wait 5 mins to eat.  I try that...I'm still vomiting.  The nausea is horrible.  I vomit at least twice a day when I'm on the Chantix and usually after day 4 I get extrememly nauseous when I even attempt to smoke a cigarette.  Which I guess is a good thing if you're really trying to stop smoking.  If you can handle the nausea, then I think that Chantix has been the best thing to help quit smoking.

Thanks for the info,I'll try it now. I've been going to the end of the box without hitting return.
I just hit return about an inch and a quarter from the end of the box.Let's see what happens.

I'll try hitting return at your suggested 2 inch mark before the end of the box.
Let's see this time.

Are you copying over from a word file or entering into the forum directly? It looks like you've got the legth set for to long ( this is strange software), You may want to try doing a hard return at the end of a line for a quick fix. Just do the hard enter when you get to about
here, like two inches from the end of the window. At least then it
won't be hard to read! (I'm trying it now, it seems to be working
but we'll see what it looks like when I send it.

Thanks Sarah, your absolutely right about wanting to quit also. I feel there is no easy, pill pop,
to fix this horrible addiction. If it were that easy, not many would be still smoking.I assume.LOL.

Hi, I have a frien that took Chantix and it worked for her. I think its just like everything else and YOU have to have the drive to quit yourself too. The Chantix is merely an aid to help, the hardest part is up to you. I do know it can work though :) Sarah

Thanks for the info. When I went to rehab about 5 years ago, they told me if I was on any type of
anti-depressant,that they would not help me. They said that they were worse than street drugs
and that they fry your brain for life at just a few weeks of use. I don't know about that, but I would
not be suprised if they are right.
